<br />RESOLUTION No. 512
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, DECLARING ITS
<br />INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR ANNEXATION OF NORTH KENSINGTON SQUARE
<br />WHEREAS, on the 6th day of October, 1947, there was filed with the Council of
<br />the City of Redwood City a petition in writing,,requesting that the hereinafter
<br />described territory be annexed to, incorporated in, and made a part of the City of
<br />Redwood City, which said petition was signed by not less than one-fourth in number
<br />of the qualified electors residing within the territory requested to be annexed;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby resolves
<br />as follows:
<br />SECTION 1. That the said City Council does hereby declare its intention to
<br />call a special election on Tuesday, the 30th day of December, 1947, for the purpose
<br />of submitting to the qualified electors residing in the territory hereinafter speci-
<br />fically described the question of whether such territory shall be annexed to, incor-
<br />porated in and,made a part of the City of Redwood City, a municipal corporation.
<br />SECTION 2. The territory herein referred to is specifically described as
<br />follows:
<br />BEGINNING at a point in the Northwesterly line of Jefferson avenue at the
<br />most easterly corner of Lot 12, Block 5, as said lot and block are shown on
<br />that certain map of Kensington Square filed for record November 3, 19259 in
<br />volume 12 of Maps at pages 74 and 75, San Mateo County Records; said point is
<br />in the present Southwesterly boundary of the City limits line of Redwood City;
<br />thence along said City limits line, and along the Northeasterly line of the
<br />above-described Lot 12, N 44o 49' 30'1 W 157.63 feet to the most Northerly
<br />corner thereof; thence leaving said City limits on and along the Northwesterly
<br />line of Lots 12 and 11, Block 5, and their Southwesterly extension, across
<br />Upton Street; S 450 11' 30" W 160 feet to a point in the Southwesterly line of
<br />said street; thence along said line N 44o 48' 30" W 50.00 feet to the most
<br />Easterly corner of Lot 17, Block 4 of said map; thence along the Southeasterly
<br />line of said Lot 17, S 450 11' 30" W 110.00 feet to the most Southerly corner
<br />of Lot 17; thence along the Southwesterly line of said Lot N 44o 48' 30" W
<br />50.00 feet; to the most Easterly corner of Lot 15, Block,4 of said Map; thence
<br />along the Southeasterly line of said lot 15, and its Southwesterly production
<br />across the Alameda de las Pulgas (the Alameda de las Pulgas and Upton Street
<br />are as shown on the above-described map); S 450 11' 30" W 173.25 feet to a
<br />point in the Northeasterly line of that 16.79 acre tract of land now or form-
<br />erly belonging to A. W. Pike; thence Northwesterly along the lands now or
<br />formerly of Pike; N 44o 48' 30 West 1295.54 feet to a point in the Southeas-
<br />terly line of Lot 1, Block 18, Map of Oak Knoll Manor filed May 10, 1916, in
<br />Block 10 of. Maps at page 4 to 11, incl., San Mateo County Records; thence North-
<br />easterly along the Southeasterly line of Lot 1, Block 18, to the Westerly line
<br />of Canyon Rqad; thence Northerly along the Westerly line of Canyon Road to the
<br />Southwesterly City Limits Line; thence Southeasterly along said City Limits to
<br />the Easterly corner of Oak Knoll Manor; thence Southwesterly along the boun-
<br />dary between Oak Knoll Manor and Jefferson Avenue addition (a map of which was
<br />filed November,12, 1912, in Book S of'Maps,. page 32, San Mateo County Records),
<br />which line is also the City Limits Line, to the Westerly corner of the Jefferson
<br />Avenue addition ,which corner is also the Northerly corner.of .Kensington .Square;
<br />thence Southeasterly along the City Limits Line, which line is also the boundary
<br />between Kensington Square and the Jefferson Avenue addition, to the -point of
<br />beginning.
<br />SECTION 3. Such territory so specifically described herein is hereby referred
<br />to as NORTH KENSINGTON SQUARE and may be so indicated upon the ballots to be used at
<br />the election at which the question of such annexation is submitted.
<br />SECTION 4. That notice is hereby given that on Monday, the 17th day of November,
<br />1947, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P. M. of said day, in the Council Chambers in the
<br />City Hall of said City of Redwood City, any person owning real property within such
<br />territory proposed to be annexed, having any objections to the proposed annexation
<br />may appear before the City Council and show cause why such territory should not be
<br />so annexed. 4
<br />SECTION 6. That the City Clerk of the City of Redwood C ity shall cause a copy,
<br />of this Resolution to be published once a week for two successive weeks in the
<br />Redwood City Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published and circulated
<br />in the City of Redwood City, said publication to be made prior to November 17, 1947,
<br />the date herein set for the hearing of objections to the proposed annexation.
<br />The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council
<br />of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 27th day of

<br />SECTION 5. At any time not later
<br />than the hour set
<br />for hearing protests and
<br />J
<br />objections to the proposed election, as
<br />in the territory proposed to be annexed
<br />herein provided,
<br />may make written
<br />any owner of property with-
<br />protest against the proposed
<br />election. All such protests must be in
<br />writing and shall
<br />state the name or names of
<br />the owner or owners of the property affexted
<br />thereby and
<br />making such protest, and
<br />the location and area of such property
<br />in general terms.
<br />SECTION 6. That the City Clerk of the City of Redwood C ity shall cause a copy,
