Councilman Britschgi suggested that G 97 the City Clerk write.to the property owner involved, and ask that he appear at the next Council meeting and that the City Council advise him of their intention to abate the nuisance, and proceed with razing the building. Councilman Granger moved that the proceedings be duly and regularly continued to November 17th at B P. M., and that the property owner be properly notified, at which time a Resolution should b:e prepared by the City Attorney. Motion seconded by Councilman Werder, and passed. REZONING S & W PROPERTY. City Attorney Currie advised Ordinance was ready for introduction Councilman Granger asked if requirement necessitating any request for building permit be referred to the Council, could be made a condition of the Ordinance. City Attor- ney advised this situation would be taken care of in the new zoning ordinance, which would require.the obtaining of a use permit. In the interim, publication of ordinance will be withheld until letter from S & W is on record., Councilman Granger moved introduction of ordinance, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE of 1/4 cent gas tax was introduced. Coun- cilman Werder moved that the resolution be adopted. Councilman McNulty seconded the motion. Motion carried on roll call, Councilman Swift being noted absent. RE S GLUT I ON No- 514 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE OF 1/4 CENT GAS TAX ALLOCATED FOR STATEHIGHWAYS. WHEREAS, the State of California, through its Department of Public Works, Divi- sion of Highways, has presented a memorandum of agreement in accordance with a pro- ject statement submitted by the City for expenditure of the 1/4 cent gas tax for the 1945 fiscal year allocated for State highways in the City of Redwood City; and WHEREAS, the city council has heard read said agreement in full and is familiar with the contents thereof; THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that said agreement for expenditure of the 1/4 cent gas tax allocated for State highways be and the same is hereby approved and the Mayor and the City Clerk are directed to sign the same on behalf of said City. RALPH S. DODGE Clerk of the City of Redwood City COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST COMPLIMENTED THE CITY MANAGER on h1s procedure in introducing new City Employees. He discussed a matter of $25.00 that had been spent for repairs to a P. G. & E. line damaged while removing,Eucalyptus trees on City property, that had become a menace. The trees were removed by a property owner, since the City had no funds to take -care of this matter. It is the property owner's contention that the City should reimburse him for the cost of damage to the P. G. & E. lines, since he was removing the trees as a public service. Former City Manager Blom and City Engineer Don Wilson apparently had a verbal agreement with the party in question, and would have to be questioned before a definite decision regarding paying the claim I
