306 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redwood City resolves as follows:
<br />SECTION 1. A special election is hereby ordered, proclaimed and called on
<br />Tuesday, the 30th day of December, 1947, for the purpose of submitting to the electors
<br />residing in the territory hereinafter described the following proposition:
<br />Proposition No. 1. "Shall South Kensington Square be annexed to the City
<br />of Redwood City and the property therein, after such annexation, be subject to
<br />taxation equally with the property within said City of Redwood City?"
<br />SECTION 2. The territory hereinafter referred to as South Kensington Square
<br />is specifically described as follows:
<br />All that certain real property situated in the County of San Mateo, State of
<br />California, particularly described as follows:
<br />All of Kensington Square subdivision as shown on Sheet 2 of that
<br />certain map entitled Kensington Square which was filed in the office
<br />of the County Recorder, San Mateo County, California, on November 3,
<br />1925, in Volume 12 of Maps at pages 74 and 75.
<br />All of Jefferson Avenue, including that portion formerly known
<br />as Hooper Road, as shown on the above-described map, the center line
<br />of which is more particularly described as follows:
<br />BEGINNING at a point at the intersection of the center line of
<br />Jefferson Avenue with the Northeasterly boundary of Kensington Square
<br />as above described, thence S 656 25' W 5.32' s 650 25' W 451.07' to
<br />the intersection of the center line of the Alameda de las Pulgas with
<br />the center line of Jefferson Avenue, S 65o 25' W 766.72' S 670 33.5'
<br />44.49' s, 560 13' w 90.65' S 220 13' w 106.75.' S 90 11' E 108.601, S
<br />350 OS' E 399.701, S 260 53' E 276.101; thence leaving said center
<br />line of Jefferson Avenue (formerly known as Hooper Road) N 720 40'
<br />E 25.00' to a point on the Easterly line of Jefferson Avenue and the
<br />Southwesterly boundary line of Kensington Square subdivision,.which
<br />point bears N 400 43' W 751.54' along said southwesterly boundary
<br />line of Kensington Square subdivision from the most southerly corner
<br />thereof.
<br />SECTION 3. Such territory so specifically described herein is hereby referred
<br />to as South Kensington Square and is so to be indicated on the ballots to be used
<br />in the election at which the question of such annexation.is submitted.
<br />SECTION 4. The polls for said -election shall be open at 7:00 o'clock A. M.
<br />on the day of said special election and shall be open until 7:00 o'clock P. M. of
<br />said day, when the polls shall be closed; except that if at the hour of closing
<br />there are any voters in the polling place, or in line at the door, who are qualified
<br />to vote and who have not been able to do so since appearing, the polls shall be
<br />kept open a sufficient time to enable them to vote, but no one who shall arrive at
<br />the polling place after 7:00 o'clock P. M. of said day shall be entitled to vote,
<br />although the polls may be open when they arrive.
<br />SECTION 5. That for the purpose of holding and conducting such special election,
<br />said territory herein described and referred to as South Kensington Square is hereby
<br />districted into, and there is hereby established, one voting precinct, and the poll-
<br />ing place and the election officers for such precinct are hereby fixed at and named
<br />as follows:
<br />Voting Precinct No. 1, comprising all of the territory within the exterior
<br />boundaries of the property hereinabove described and herein proposed to be annexed.
<br />The polling place thereof shall be:
<br />BERRY'S SERVICE STATION
<br />Corner of Alameda and Jefferson
<br />Redwood City, San Mateo County
<br />California
<br />and the election officers therefore are:
<br />Inspector: STEPHEN M. GASKILL
<br />Judges: MRS. FRANCES F. REEVES
<br />ELBERT M. McNUTT
<br />The officers of election have volunteered their services and shall receive no
<br />compensation for their services.
<br />The above and foregoin Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of
<br />the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 17th day of
<br />November, 1947, by the following vote:
<br />AYES, and in favor of the foregoing resolution, Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRANGER,
<br />HOLMQUIST, McNULTY, SWIFT, and WERDER.
<br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE
<br />ABSENT, Councilmen: Mayor HILTON.
