M. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilman Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger, <br />r George W._ McNulty, William E. Werder, Mayor W. W. Hilton and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. <br />Also present were: City Manager E. A. Rolison, City Engineer Glenn Jain, City <br />Attorney C. B. Currie, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Police Chief C. C. Collins, Assessor <br />and Auditor J. J. Brophy, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Assistant Building <br />Inspector Stephen Kreiss, City Collector Paul E. Perrin and Assistant Engineer H. L. <br />Winter. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes of the meeting of December 1st were approved on motion of <br />Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty, as mailed, with the addition to <br />motion of Councilman Granger on Page 2, last paragraph, to read: <br />BCouncilman Granger moved that bids be rejected, bidder's bonds be returned <br />and that City Manager call for new bids on Steinberger Street fill," etc. <br />' Motion carried. <br />APPLICATION FOR AUTOMOBILE DEALER PERMIT received from Bray Motor Company, 1502 El <br />Camino Real was approved on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman <br />Werder, with the provision that permit for the temporary location at 1610 Broadway <br />be cancelled when applicant occupies quarters at 1502 E1 Camino Real. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM M. F. DALTON, former city employee, was read and Mr. Dalton appeared <br />before the Council explaining that he had been granted military leave on re-entering <br />the Army, but that he had not been re-employed upon discharge from the Army. City <br />Manager Rolison stated he had discussed the matter with Park Superintendent and <br />was of the impression that Mr. Dalton would be re-employed in the Park Department <br />as soon as a place could be found. Mr. Dalton was assured that a place would be <br />found in the near future. <br />PERMIT TO CONSTRUCT TRIPLEX BUILDING GRANTED to Dante Sergianni on Lot 22, Block 20, <br />Eagle Hill Addition, on motion of Councilman Werder, seconded by Councilman McNulty <br />and carried. Reason for submitting this application to the Council is that the <br />location is included in the district covered by an interim ordinance permitting only <br />single family dwellings, unless permit is obtained from Council. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF CALIFORNIA SQUARE CONTRACT, PETER SORENSON. City Engineer explained that <br />although final payment had been made, minutes did not disclose that Council had <br />accepted the job. Councilman McNulty so moved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. <br />Motion carried. <br />COi+MUNICATION RECEIVED FROM MRS. HOWARD B. SIXON protesting assessed valuation and amount <br />of tax levied against her property. Taxes have been paid under protest. After <br />general discussion, it was decided letter should be referred to Assessor Brophy for <br />
