Councilman Britschgi offered resolution of intention to an-
nex territory known as Redwood Village to the City of Redwood City and moved
its adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger. Under the question, a resident
- of Redwood Village asked who would be responsible for the cost of installing
tees in.the water system to connect to the fire hydrant. City Manager Blom
advised that at the time of the installation of 'who water system the subdivi-
ders had not wanted to pay the cost of the tees. California Water Service has
refunded the cost of the installation of mains in Redwood Village No. 1. It
7 was the opinion of Mr. Blom that material for the installation of the tees
could be obtained within sixty to ninety day's and that an attempt should be
made with Conway and Culligan to finance the installation of the tees to be
repaid to them by taking over the water system.. He believed the location of
the hydrants should be left to the discretion of the Fire Chief anis himself.
On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with Mayor Hilton absent.
RESOLUTI ON No. 411
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ORDERING,
PROCLAIMING, CALLING, GIVING NOTICE OF AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING
OF A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS
RESIDING IN THE TERRITORY HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED, THE QUESTION OF WHETHER
SUCH TERRITORY SHALL BE AN14EXED TO, INCORPORATED IN AND MADE A PART OF THE
CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AND THE PROPERTY THEREIN, AFTER SUCH ANNEXATION, BE
SUBJECT TO TAXATION EQUALLY WITH THE PROPERTY OF SAID CITY OF REDWOOD
CITY: ESTABLISHING PRECINCTS THEREFOR, DESIG14ATING•THE POLLING PLACE
THEREIN, AND APPOINTING A BOARD OF ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR SAID POLLING
PLACE AND FIXING THE COMPENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICERS, FIXING A TIME
AND PLACE FOR HEARI14G PROTESTS AGAINST SUCH PROPOSED ANNEXATION.
® WHEREAS, under the provisions of that certain act of the Legislature of
the State of California, entitled "An act to provide for the alteration of the
boundaries of and for the annexation of territory to municipal corporations,
for the incorporation of such annexed territory in and as a part thereof; and
for the districting, government and municipal control of such annexed territory"
approved June 11, 1913, together with aots amendatory therof, there was on the
16th day of 'December, 19469 filed with the Council of the City of Redwood City,
a petition, in writing, requesting that the hereinafter described territory
be annexed to, incorporated in, and made a part of the City of Redwood City:
The exterior boundaries of said territory described in said petition and
which territory is contiguous to the limits of the City of Redwood City, is
described as follows, to-crit:
BEGINNING at the intersection•of.the Southwesterly line of Sweeney
Ranch as shown on that tertian map entitled "Map of Subdivisions of
%I Sweeny Ranch near Redwood City San Mateo Co." filed in the office of the
County Recorder of SantMateo County 'on June 24, 1898, in Book °C" of
Maps, at page 36, with the Southeasterly boundary line of Redwood City,
California, being also the intersection of said boundary line with th4
Southwesterly line of Dumbarton Acres as shown on that certain map enti-
tled "Dumbarton Acres near Redwood City, California" recorded June 7,
1927 in Vol. 16, of Maps at pages 8 and 9, Official Records of San Mateo
County, California- and running thence from said point of beginning North
280 5030" East 519.28 feet to the center lihe of Spring Street as
shown on that certain map entitled "Redwood Village No. 1" recorded June
20, 1945 in Vol. 24 of Maps at pages 51 and 52, Official Records of San
Mateo County, California; thence along said center line South 750 25'
30° East 1,156.66 feet to the intersection of the ePnter lines of Spring
Street and Douglass Avenue as shown on said map of Redwood Village No. 1;
thence along said center line of Douglass Avenue south 290 49' West
2,055.05 feet to a point 36.5 feet, measured at a right angle, Northeaster-
ly line of Middlefield Road as shown on said map of Redwood Village No.l;
thence along a line parallel to and distant 36.5 feet from said North-
LI _ westerly line of Middlefield-Road North 50o 13' 30" West 1,142.64 feet
to a point on said boundary line of said City of Redwood City; thence
along said boundary line of said City North 280 501 30" East 983.99 feet
to the point of beginning.
Bearings in this description are based upon the bearing of Spring
Street as shown on the aforesaid map antitled "Dumbarton Acres near
Redwood City, California" taken as North 750 251 30" West.
Said territory to be designated as "Redwood Village No. 1" and
WHEREAS the Council of the City of ,Redwood City does hereby determine and
M
