<br />passed and adopted May 20, 1946, entitled "Resolution of Preliminary Determina-
<br />tion to Make Public Improvements in Laurel Street between Stambaugh Street and '
<br />Middlefield Road and in Stambaugh Street between Laurel and Willow Streets".
<br />The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the City Coun-
<br />cil of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the l6th
<br />day of December, 1946, by the following vote:
<br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution:

<br />Councilman Granger believed the Police Department should be equipped with a cam6ra so
<br />that it could take its own pictures of accidents, etc. without borrowing a camera
<br />or calling on professional photographers. After some discussion, Councilman
<br />Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Werder, that the matter be.referred to
<br />the City Manager for investigation and report at the second meeting in January.

<br />Motion passed unanimously.
<br />Claims No. 611 to 672 in the amount of $25,096.18 were approved and ordered paid on
<br />motion of Councilman McNulty, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Motion passed
<br />unanimously.
<br />Councilman McNulty offered resolution adjourning meeting out of respect -to the memory
<br />of the late Fire Chief Mark E. Ryan and moved its adopted, adoption, seconded by
<br />Councilman Granger. On roll call, resolution was unanimously adopted with
<br />Mayor Hilton and Councilman Swift absent.
<br />RESOLUTION No. 414
<br />!WHEREAS on December 13th, 1946 Mark Ryan passed from this life. to his eternal
<br />reward and it is fitting; that this City Council of the City of Redwood City
<br />appropriately record his long, faithful and distinguished public services in this
<br />community,
<br />RESOLVED by this Counoil that we here record the esteem and affection in which
<br />Mark Ryan is and, for over a quarter of a century, has been held by members of
<br />this Council, the officers and members of this city government, especially the
<br />Fire and Police Departments, and thousands of our fellow citizens; that we hereby
<br />fcommemorate Mark Ryan's outstanding services to this city, San Mateo County and
<br />the State of California as a member of this Council, as Mayor of this city, as
<br />Chief of the Fire Department for many years without compensation, as a member of
<br />the. Boards of Freeholders who drafted charters for this city and for San Mateo
<br />County, and as a member bf many citizens' committees for promotion of the welfare
<br />and progress of this community;
<br />FURTHER RESOLVED that we attest the bterling character of our friend, his
<br />i
<br />courage, devotion to public service, often at great personal sacrifice, his inds-
<br />pendence of thought and action, and his indomitable energy throughout his long
<br />life among us.
<br />FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread on the minutes of this Coun-
<br />cil, that we adjourn this meeting in memory of Mark Ryan,, and that copies of this
<br />resolution, certified by our Clerk, be sent to his widow and sons, to whom we
<br />extend our sympathies in this bereavement.
