Councilman Granger moved this be carried on the agend4 for <br />the next meeting, but was lost for want of a second. <br />MEMORANDUM FROM THE PERSONNEL BOARD RECOMMENDED THAT THE COUNCIL A14END THE SALARY ORDINANCE <br />to add Sewage Treatment Plant Operator and Assistant Sewage Treatment Platn Operator <br />positions at the following salaries;_.., <br />'Operator .$288 305 322 341 36o <br />Assistants 231 244• '259 273 .288 <br />Councilman Swift moved that recommendation be accepted and amended motion introducing <br />ordinance with the consent of Councilman Spillers' second to the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />APPLICATION FRO RESTAURANT PERMIT, EMANUEL'S BARBEQUE, 508 El Camino Real, Emmanuel Cayafas, <br />503 Madison Avenue. Inspection having been made by Health, Fire, Building and Police <br />Departments, it was moved by Councilman Spillers, that permit be granted with point <br />of Building Inspector to be considered: Health Department may require wider vesti- <br />bule to toilet rooms if present installation becomes a nuisance. Motion seconded by <br />Councilman Granger. At Councilman Granger's suggestion and consent Councilman <br />Spillers amended motion that restaurant owner sign the statement subject to possible <br />requirements of Health Department. Notion carried. <br />Councilman Britschgi entered the meeting, 8:30 P. M. <br />NOTICE OF HEARING BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION IN THE MATTER OF APPLICATION OF <br />THE Martin Transportation Company for authority to transfer operative rights to <br />conduct the passenger stage service to Palo Alto City Lines. Hearing was scheduled <br />p _ <br />for Friday, February 4, 1949 at 10:00 A.M. in the City Hall, Palo Alto, California. <br />Communication was ordered filed. Councilman Granger moved that City Attorney Currie, <br />4 be asked by the Council to attend this meeting, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and <br />the motion carried. <br />LLOYD J. COSGROVE, Attorney for M. J. King'Inc., presented alternate plan other than that <br />recommended by City Engineer Jain and City Manager Rolison in regards to requirements <br />of subdivider for Woodside Terrace. Mr. Cosgrove stated substantitally that the <br />homes were for veterans and in an effort to keep cost of construction down, they <br />desired the Council to concede on the following points: <br />1. (a) Street construction of 61' subbase with 11' armor coat; width 34' <br />from curb to curb, or <br />. (b) 511 subbase with 211 asphalt surface, width of street 301- <br />2. Sidewalk of 4' in place of 51- <br />3. Transite water pipe in place of cast iron <br />Councilman Spillers moved that the Council approve the 511 subbase -with 211 asphalt <br />surface, street of 30 ft. width, except Virginia Avenue; and/or, any street which <br />cussion followed on the sidewalks and Councilman Granger moved that the City com- <br />promise and ask for 44� foot sidewalks, seconded by Councilman Morgan. As Mayor <br />t Werder was not present the vote on the motion was held up. Mr. Cosgrove stated <br />i <br />they were trilling to accept the compromise of 42 foot sidewalk. Discussion turned <br />the City wished to reserve <br />for <br />an artgrial. Mayor Werder turned <br />the meeting over <br />to Councilman Granger to act as <br />Currie this only <br />Chairman and seconded the motion. <br />to the map which was ready to be <br />City Attorney <br />filed.
