When next year's budget should*be adopted, the Council should <br />determine a percentage breakdown at that time. Councilman Granger moved that the <br />department heads who -would create the budget for the next year take this into con- <br />sideration and make it 75/1, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />REX BENHAM APPEARED IN REGARDS TO PORT BONDS. Councilman -morgan moved that a committee <br />be appointed consisting of one Port Commissioner, one member of the Council, City <br />Attorney and one other citizen to study -this problem and report°back to the Council. <br />It was too late to include this issue on the bond election -of April 5th. Possible <br />change of the Charter was discussed for revision, having been written twenty years <br />ago. Mayor Werder appointed Councilman Morgan, Mr. Menefee to represent the Port, <br />City Attorney Currie, Mr. Rex Benham and City Manager Rolison, who was to call the Q. <br />.a <br />meeting for some evening. Mr. Sam Cheatham also addressed the Council on the <br />,Port Bond question. Committee was to bring back a report to the City Council for <br />further action. <br />MR. VINCENT BUCKOUT APPEARED IN REGARDS TO TRAFFIC CONDITIONS ON CHARTER STREET which <br />was now open to Bayshore and used by fast driven trucks past the Hoover School. <br />Achool signs of 15 miles -per hour had been placed on this street, but speed limit <br />needed to be enforced. School districts in other cities sometimes hire individuals <br />for two or three hours a day to handle the traffic at these points.- Rerouting of <br />trucks was also discussed; a committee had been appointed, made up of trucking <br />companies but nothing had been done. This should be an overall study of the <br />entire'eity for routing trucks. Councilman Morgan suggested that bills before the <br />Legislature which would authorize School Districts to employ <br />g p y part time crossing <br />guards should+be obtained and the Council go on record being in favor of such. <br />Administrative Assistant Miller reported that the Planning Commission was going <br />to make a study of routing the trucks and also that the League of California <br />Cities had published a digest of all bills. before the Legislature which would be <br />available in a few days. <br />REQUEST FOR TAX REFUND, T. J. CALLAN. City <br />Attorney Currie reported that if tax had <br />been paid twice that Mr.'Callan should <br />receive a refund, if paid once it would <br />be up to Mr. Callan to collect from Mr. <br />Shoop. City Collector Perrin was to check <br />on this. Councilman Morgan moved this <br />be placed on the agenda, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Swift,, -and carried. <br />REQUEST OF SAM GARCIA FOR WATER CONNECTION, <br />Lot 16, Block 22 Redwood -Terrace No. 1, <br />Another latter was received by Mr. J. E. Castagnetto, Attorney, in regards to this. <br />City Attorney Currie talked to him and <br />he requested that the Council take definite <br />+ <br />action and either grant or deny the water <br />connection. City Attorney Currie sug- <br />gested it be carried on the agenda. It <br />was so moved by Councilman Morgan, seconded <br />by Councilman Granger, and carried. <br />f <br />CITY ENGINEER JAIN REPORTS ON OAK STREET AT <br />REESE STREET. Mr. Jain stated redrock had <br />been rolled to give temporarily relief <br />and it was possible to get in and out on <br />this street. Councilman Granger moved <br />that the people be notified that the City <br />had given this temporary assistance and <br />that a petition should be forthcoming from <br />them for street improvement, that this was the City's final help to accomodate <br />them, and he so moved that proper authorities draft a letter to be given to the <br />M <br />
