Councilman Granger <br />moved that City Engineer Jain be authorized to set up assessment district if the <br />people so desired, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />PROPOSED EXTENSION OF BROADWAY,.BROADWAY No..3. City Attorney Currie reported that some <br />progress had been made at the meeting with Mr. Wilson, that the legal matters had <br />gone as far as possible, the next step would be for the City Engineer with the <br />Councils recommendation of what action they wished to take.. City Engineer Jain <br />stated this needed considerable engineering study and recommended about 45 changes. <br />Councilman Swift left the meeting 9.:10 P.M. <br />It was mutually agreed that this was set up as 1913 Act project at the time the <br />project was begun but the project could be completed under the 1911 Act. Elimi- <br />nation of Maple Street intersecting Bayskiore would change distribution of the <br />district. It was thought about 80% of the job could be salvaged in regard to <br />expense already incurred. The petition could be presented by the people to continue <br />work under the 1911 Act to replace the petition issued for work under the 1913 Act. <br />After further discussion Councilman Holmquist moved that the City Engineer bring <br />in a report of what was to be deleted and what completed and carried on the agenda <br />until the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. City Attorney Currie <br />was to notify Mr. Wilson of the Council's action. Motion carried. <br />REPORT ON REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTS, BREWSTER AND BAYSHORE, Mrs. Marie Hill. Fire Chief <br />Lodi checked on this and found there, was a 400 candle power light on Brewster, and <br />this was not a particularly long block. City Clerk Dodge was to contact Mrs. Hill <br />to see if she could clarify the point of her request and take up with the Fire <br />Chief .on motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and <br />carried. <br />ANNA FRIEDMANIS REQUEST FOR PERMIT TO CONDUCT A SECOND-HAND AND ANTIQUE STORE, 2246 El <br />Camino Real. Previous request for permit was denied until she complied with the <br />present. condition. City Collector Perrin stated that Mrs. Friedman objected to <br />paying $50 in advance which was required by ordinance. Mrs. Friedman appeared <br />and stated after moving to new location, investing so much in location, having to <br />move again to comply that she was short of funds until she could start operating <br />her business. It was agreeable to her to pay $25 to July, 050 per year thereafter <br />to be paid in advance and was so moved by Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger, and carried. <br />DOUGLASS & WOODHOUSE REQUESTED 60 day extension, Johnson Street project. As the street <br />was in good condition City Engineer Jain approved the 60 day extension as it was <br />in the middle of the rainy season. It was so moved by Councilman Morgan, and <br />seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried. <br />SALE OF LOTS 18, 19 and 20, Block 1, Resubdivision of Lot 25, W. til. & M: Subdivision <br />of a part of Redwood Farm, to James Corbett and Margaret Corbett.. Councilman <br />Britschgi offered resolution and moved adoption authorizing issuance and signing <br />of deed, seconded by Councilman Holmquist.
