It was so moved by Councilman Morgan that City Engineer Jain have <br />authority to negotiate, and refer to the Real Estate Committee for their recommen- <br />dation to the Council, seconded by Councilman Britechgi, and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN MORGAN INQUIRED IF (1).Barns across the street from the City Hall would be <br />removed along with the Robinson house, (2) if the market on Broadway near Main would <br />be removed soon, and (3) 1f the Pacific Surplus Sales Company on Broadway had moved <br />out. Building Inspector Duncan reported some Were removed and the others were com- <br />ing down or•contracts had been made to demolish the building. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER" ASKED IF ALL ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS were up to date and was informed <br />that they were. City Attorney Currie stated they were on the agenda for the first <br />meeting in March. <br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED THAT DISABLED VETERANS applying for Peddler's License should <br />be checked for misrepresentation. City Collector Perrin stated a form must be <br />filled out by the applicants. " <br />MAYOR WERDER THANKED MR. FRED SCHMIDT for working on the Citizen Bond Committee, he <br />being present at the Council meeting. <br />COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI STATED he had received a letter from an insurance agent in Sunnyvale <br />which had been run through the water department addressograph machine. Inasmuch as <br />this machine was not -to be used for such purposes, City Attorney Currie was in- <br />structed to investigate and•aseertain circumstances under which the work had been <br />done, on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. <br />COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST ASKED WHAT COULD BE DONE ABOUT THE STREET LIGHTS IN FRIENDLY ACRES <br />AS PEOPLE OUT THERE WERE GETTING UP PETITIONS FOR LIGHTS. City Manager Rolison <br />and Fire Chief Lodi were to make a survey. At present Friendly Acres was in Menlo <br />Park lighting district. Until such time as they came under the City lighting <br />service, lights would be ordered through the P.G. & E. at a flat rate. Two resolu- <br />tions were to be prepared by City Attorney Currie on motion of Councilman Holmquist, <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan applying for release in foreign lighting district <br />by the County Board. of Supervisors of Friendly Acres and South Kensington Square. <br />The rate would be a little higher on the unit basis until the City had their own <br />facilities in. Motion carried. <br />CLAIMS Noe. 5+31 to 5510 inclusive in the amount of $13029.03 were approved for payment <br />on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />MEETING WAS ADJOURNED TO MONDAY, 4:30 P.M., February 28th. <br />Adjournment 10:00 P.M. <br />I RALPH S.
