City Engineer Jain
reported on communication from the State Highway Department on revised estimate of
cost of proposed signallzation. It had been recommended that all conduits be placed
underground so as not to interfere with future street lighting and to eliminate the
placing of additional wooden poles along the west side of the street.. Revised esti-
mate had increased for the City's portion from $17,000 to $22,453.60. If the con-
duit should be placed overhead the estimated cost would be $19,802.35. It was
recommended that the project be approved at the estimated cost of $22,453.60, so
that a memorandum of agreement could be prepared for the work. It was proposed that
additional cost of approximately $5500 be borne from the 1949-50 allocation of the
gas tax fund.
