in San Francisco and it was his 'understanding that several ordinances would be 161 <br />presented including self-sery limited stations, which would concern all the United <br />States. The skeleton form of the ordinance could be used by the City to adopt for <br />their own purpose. Councilman Granger moved this be referred back to the committee <br />of two councilmen, City Attorney and Fire Chief, pending a report of Fire Chief Lodi <br />i <br />1. after attending the convention, seconded'by Councilmen Spillers, and carried. Mr. <br />a <br />Harrison 'Call explained his absence from the City at the scheduled times for committee <br />meetings because of a death in the family, appreciated delays for his convenience <br />and thanked the committee for their consideration of awaiting his return. <br />TAXICAB PERMITS, PAUL CESARE. Councilman Morgan, Chairman of this committee, reported <br />that since the last meeting the committee had voted unanimously that the permit be <br />denied as the request for the permit was considered to come under the category of <br />public necessity. Mr. Millington, Attorney for Mr. Cesare, appealed in his behalf <br />that a monopoly not be created in this business. Mr. Harold Anderson represented <br />three cab companies, Yellow, Redwood and Sequoia and thought if more cabs were needed <br />they should be able to use permits that werq paid for,'havir;g invested considerable <br />money in their Redwood City business. Councilman Spillers moved that application of <br />Paul Cesare for taxicab permits be denied, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried <br />on roll call 5 to 2, Councilmen Britschgi and Werder voting No. <br />COUNCILMAN MORGAN MOVED THAT INACTIVE PERMITS BE ALLOWED TO EXPIRE June.30th, and that <br />they should not be renewed unless they would be actually used, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers, and carried, Councilman Britschgi voting No. <br />STAMBAUGH AND LAUREL STREET PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS. Councilman Granger and Holmquist <br />' reported having interviewed residents in this area. Mr. Holmquist talked to Mr. <br />Seeson & Paul Benedetti. All were willing to have the project started, but if City <br />Engineer Jain thought they could not proceed,,residents could petition. If cash was <br />put up the job would go quickly. It was thought bonds would sell as this was im- <br />proved property. The school and City were in favor of improvements but did not wish <br />to make up the necessary signatures. Councilman Granger moved that City Engineer <br />Jain be authorized to contact the bonding company and if this was not recommended, <br />let the residents contract themselves for the streets, seconded by Councilman Swift, <br />and carried. <br />t <br />PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVED TENTATIVE STREET LAYOUT FOR THE BALANCE OF THE LAND DEVELOP- <br />MENT COMPANY PROPERTY (WOODSIDE TERRACE) subject to 9 conditions. Councilman Granger <br />moved that recommendation be approved providing for City Engineer Jain's approval, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />March 18, 1949 <br />Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />City Hall <br />Redwood City, California <br />Gentlemen: <br />At the last regular meeting of your Planning Commission, held on the 14th of <br />f <br />March, 1949, the tentative street layout for the balance of the Land Development <br />Company property (Woodside Terrace) was approved subject to the following conditions: <br />1. That a dedicated right-of-way be provided along Vera between Crompton Road <br />and the northeast limit of the tract (Total 60 feet). <br />2. Show the 15 foot water easement along Vera Avenue. <br />3. Make the Alameda de las Pulgas right-of-way EO feet wide and provide for a <br />30' setback along both sides of the street. Realign the Alameda to inter- <br />cept the existing right-of-way between Harcross Road and Woodside Drive. <br />4. Make Roosevelt an got right-of-way between the alley north of Halsey Avenue <br />in Redwood Terrace No. 1, and westerly limits of the Tract shown on the map <br />presented. <br />
