n <br />164 <br />3. Extension -of Franklin, between James and Jefferson, through <br />'Butcher's Field. <br />4. On Jefferson from Upton to the westerly City Limits. <br />5. On Alameda de las Pulgas from Jefferson to Vera. <br />Councilman Granger moved that the affidavit of publication be filed, seconded by <br />Councilman Morgan, and carried. Question of the north side of Broadway in regards <br />to setback lines was to be put forward until the next meeting. The hearing on j <br />official plan lines was duly and regularly continued until April 18th, 1949. Coun-• <br />cilman Spillers moved that City Engineer Jain report on official plan lines north <br />side of Broadway, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried. <br />REFUND ON DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 10 inch sewer main and S inch installation Oak Ridge Sub- <br />division by P. J. Murphy, Murphy Construction Company, 2105 Eaton Avenue, San Carlos. <br />City Attorney Currie's opinion was that it was proper for the City to collect from <br />assessment district in Kensinton Square area this difference between 8 and 10 inch <br />main and refund to Mr. Murphy if the Council saw fit to do so. It could be properly <br />included as an item of cost in the Kensington Square improvement district. Council- <br />man Britschgi moved this be placed on the agenda, seconded by Councilman Morgan, <br />and carried. <br />ACQUISITION OF RIGHT-OF-WAY SOUTH KENSINGTON SQUARE. City Engineer Jain stated there were <br />41 parcels on the Alameda, 12 offered and accepted, 4 probably free, 7 had to be <br />condemned, 10 probably condemned, 8 were recommended for token payment without <br />condemnation and they would be accepted. City Engineer Jain recommended that their <br />office be granted permission to offer on the basis of front footage scale not to <br />exceed the cost of list set up. Councilman Holmquist moved that the City negotiate <br />with property owners along the line discussed, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and <br />carried. <br />BROADWAY EXTENSION IMPROVEMENTS AND BROADWAY Ido. 3. A letter from Frost & Brian whereby <br />they agreed to prepare plans and, specifications for 5% of the contract cost of the 3 <br />project less the amount already paid to them, provided there were no substantial <br />deletions from the original plan; the fee to become payable at the time of letting <br />i <br />of the contract. If no contract was let, the fee.. would be payable 90 days after <br />completion of plans, the amount based on the engineer's estimate. They would pre- <br />a <br />pare assessment diagram and prepare the assessment for 1% of the contract cost or , <br />based on the engineer's estimate. This was put over for discussion at the caucus <br />meeting, 7:30 P. M- Monday, April 11th. <br />FRED J. EARLY PROGRESS ESTIMATE, SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT. City Engineer Jain recommended <br />C <br />this be approved subject to approval on checking by the engineering office. Coun- <br />cilmanBritechgi moved that recommendation be approved, seconded by Councilman I <br />Spillers, and carried. <br />ROLINSON PROPERTY FILL, MIDDLEFIELD AND JEFFERSON. Councilman Granger moved that the <br />matter be carried on the agenda, seconded by Councilman Brltschgi, and carried. <br />STREET LIGHTS - LENOLT TRACT. A letter from the Pacific Gas & Electric Company stated <br />this job had been prepared, but had been delayed due to the question on type of <br />.street light circuit to be installed which would be determine the extent of work <br />required by them. This had been decided and work should be started by April 5th. <br />The job would take several days. The job on MADISON, TOPAZ, VERA, and VALOTA ROAD <br />was dependent. upon the Telephone Company who was going to set the necessary poles <br />in a few days (letter dated March 31st). After the poles were in the P. G. & E. <br />
