Councilman`°'Spillers left the meeting at 9:40 P. M.
<br />CREEK COMMITTE. Councilman Holmquist, chairman. The choice of an engineer was left up
<br />to the committee consisting of City Manager Rolison, City Engineer Jain, Capt. Grant, i
<br />and Jack Frost. Councilman Holmquist advised there was $1000 in the creek committee
<br />fund, and that possibly additional funds would be needed. Councilman Morgan moved,
<br />seconded by Councilman Granger, that the above named committee's selection of the
<br />engineer be accepted by the Council. Motion carried.

<br />CITY ENGINEER JAIN requested that the motion on Harbor Boulevard reconstruction include k

<br />the acceptance of plans and specifications. So ordered on motion of Councilman r
<br />Granger, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. Motion carried.

<br />May 2, 1949, 9:00 P. M.
<br />ON ROL CALL the following were present: Councilman Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger,
<br />H. E. Holmquist, A. J. Morgan, Jr., R. V. Spillers, A. V. Swift, Mayor SP. M. Werder
<br />and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were: Water Supertendent H. L. Winter, t
<br />Assistant Building Inspector Stephen Kreiss, Police Chief C. L. Collins, Building
<br />Inspector L. M. Duncan, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, City Manager E. A. Rolison, City
<br />Attorney C. B. Currie and City Engineer Glenn M. Jain.
<br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES AS MAILED. Minutes of the regular meeting of April 19th, and ad-
<br />journed meeting of April 25th were approved on m o tion of Councilman Swift, seconded
<br />by Councilman Spillers, and carried.
<br />RESTAURANT LICENSE PER1IT,,1674 Broadway, Harry L. Heiberg, 127 Finger Avenue,, bowling,
<br />billiard, cocktail lounge; general liquor license. Permit granted on motion of
<br />Councilman Britschgi, and carried.
<br />HOOVER SCHOOL MOTHERS CLUB OBJECTED TO CLOSE PROXI14ITY OF DOG POUND TO SCHOOL. A letter
<br />was read from Mrs. Edward Robins, President of the Mothers Club; it protested the
<br />location of the pound on account of the disturbance to children. It was the
<br />intention to remove the pound as soon as possible and recommendation would be sub-
<br />mitted with the next annual budget when presented to the Council. The letter to be
<br />answered along this line by the City Clerk Ralph Dodge.
<br />APPLICATION FOR PERMIT TO OPERATE PAWN SHOP, 539 Middlefield Road, was recommended for
<br />approval by the Planning Commission to B. Assenza, use permit to be granted. Denied
<br />by the Council, on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Britschgi,
<br />and carried. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that an amendment to the
<br />business license ordinance should control this situation. City Attorney Currie
<br />stated the ordinance required registration of all articles by palm brokers and
<br />junk dealers.
<br />THE PLANNING 0014101ISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF J. F. 14OZAK TO RESUBDIVIDE Lots 17 &
<br />19, Block 34, Belle Haven No. 2, (corner Hoover & 5th Avenue) per attached plat, i
<br />providing that a 20 foot setback be maintained on Hoover as well as the normal
<br />setback on 5th Avenue. Councilman Morgan moved approval, seconded by Councilman
<br />Britschgi, and carried.
