After general di$eussion.it was <br />decided that the City Engineer would confer *ith the Planning Commission and make further <br />study of the matter and bring back his recommendations. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM E. A. WILSON RE SENATE BILL ##851 WAS REFERRED TO City Attorney for his considera- <br />tion. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM BEEGER TANNERY ADVISING BUILDINGS WERE IN PROCESS'OF BEING TORN DOWN, ordered <br />filed. <br />COMMUNICAMON FROM YMCA CLAIMING REFUND OF PROPERTY TAXES ordered filed. <br />PROPOSED 1949-50 BUDGET on motion of Councilman Holmquist, seconded by Councilman Britschgi record <br />will show the City Manager presented budget for further study of the Council. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Granger moved, seconded by Councilman Holmquist,, that the City Manager release to the <br />press the grand total of department head requests and the grand total recommended by City Manager <br />for comparative purposes.. Motion carried. It was decided that first budget study meeting <br />would be held on Thursday evening, June 2nd. <br />TRANSMITTERS, POLICE AND POUND CARS. City Manager Rolison advised tla t wave length would be changed <br />on or before August 16th and it would' be necessary to purchase three transmitters, twofbr police <br />cars and one for pound car. City Manager requested authority to order now, shipment to be made <br />after July 1st. Authorization granted on motion of Councilman Holmquist, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger, and carried. <br />ADJOURNMENT. <br />R. S.Dodge <br />City Clerk <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />j� Redwood City Council <br />June 6, 1949, 8:00 PM <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Floyd D. Granger, R. V. Spillers, A. V. Swift, <br />' Mayor W. M. Warder and City Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were Assistant Building Inspector <br />Stephen Kreiss, City Manager E. A.Rolison, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan Administrative.Assis- <br />tant Richard D. Miller,City Collector P. E. Perrin,CityEngineer Glenn M. Jain, Auditor -Assessor <br />J. J.Brophy,City Attorney C.B. Currie,Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, Lt. Stanley Wood, Assis- <br />tant Engineer Michael Carozza. Councilmen Britschgi, Holmquist and Morgan noted absent. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES AS MAILED. Minutes of the regular meeting of May 16th, adjourned meetings of May 23rd <br />! and May 31st approved on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />II Later in the meeting Councilman Holmquist suggested that the worts "plumbing"' be changed to "pumping". <br />? in regard to "Drainage Conditions Blomquist Property" of May 16th meeting. <br />? COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST entered the meeting at 8:05 PM. <br />ABATEMENT SHED ON CITY PROPERTY AT JEFFERSON AVENUE AND MIDDLEFIELD ROAD. Building having been inspected <br />by Building and Fire Departments was considered a fire hazard and it was recommended that it be re- <br />moved. Councilman Granger moved recommendation be approved and that proper authorities of the City <br />take necessary steps to remove'building owned by the City, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br />carried. <br />ABATEMENT COUNTY BUILDING, 703 MIDDLEFIELD ROAD. 12 -room, 2 -story building owned by County of San Mateo <br />and used by Elementaty School District as Office Building for Superintendent of Schools, occupied <br />by 18 persons was inspected by Building and Fire Departments, considered a fire and life hazard and <br />it was recommended that building be abated at once. Councilman Granger moved that proper authorities <br />®! inform County of San Mateo of their findings end ask for their cooperation, seconded by Councilman, <br />Swift and carried. <br />DRAINAGE PROBLEMS, REDWOOD INDUSTRIAL TRACT. Letter from Land Development Company dated May 13th regarding <br />construction of culvert beneath railroad drill tract at Bay Road adjacent to Chemical Process Com- <br />Ipany Plant stated their objection to this request by the City and that they would be-acoppting all <br />of Redwood City's runoff onto their property, no means having been.provided by the City or County " <br />for the elimination 8f this runoff; all runoff from the southerly end of the City travels northerly <br />toward the bay. City Engineer stated when the Land Development Company built the spur track they <br />didn't provide drainage underneath the track and the City had been trying over since to get them <br />to take care of this problem; water backs up across Spring Street to Chemical Process Company. At <br />one time'they agreed to put in culverts but thought they would become involved with National Motor Bearing <br />V <br />
