1
I hereby approve the foregoing resolution 301
this 7th day of September, 1949-
W. M. WEDER
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
REPORT ON LEAKAGE TEST, BAYSEORE INTERCEPTOR. City hngineer Jain and Frost and Brian, Consulting Engineers
recommend acceptance of (1) approximately 2650 ft of 3011 Redwood City Bayshore interceptor Sewer between
Flow-i+eter manhole east of Harbor boulevard and Oontrol manhole at Steinberger Street (2) also approxi-
mately 235 ft of 2711 Redwood City Pulgas Line lnterceptor Sewer under Bayshore Highway between Control
r
manhole south of Bayshore Highway, all in Steinberger Street. This recommendation based on leakage tests
conducted August 10th, 1949 showing a leakage of 46,000 gals/mile/day:' Although this is 2.3 times that
allowed under the specifications, it is believed all repair has been done on this portion that can prac-
ticably be done. Councilman Spillerg6oved that recommendation be accepted, seconded by Councilman
Britschgi and carried. City Engineer Jain stated they were stillkorking, on the balance of the line.
FINA7/PROGRESS ESTIMATE, AUGUST 3, 1949, TENNIS COURTS, COMMUNITY PARK, for Peter Sorensen was bubmitted by
City Engineer Jain, approved by City Manage4olison. Lynbh, Business Manager
stated that if this area was relinquished it would not be maintained as a park.- Occupancy would be re-
stricted to students. If not used for turf, the gardening department intended to plant other than lawn
to reduce the amount of work required to care for this area. This information was advanced to the Coun_
cil before making their final decision regarding relinquishing. _Opinion was divided, some thought it
would be an expense to the City and Councilman Granger stated the Recreation Commission had need for
more parks in the City and residents used this small area. A plan should be worked out to indicate
that it was for the public. It was decided to investigate and report back, Mayor Herder appointed
Councilman Granger and also wished to serve with him to get the matter straightened out. It appeared.
that the Hibh School owned the property and that City used it by permit or license and maintained it,
permit revocable on 60 days notice by the High School.
REPORT ON OFFER OF H. H.WEINER,, BUILDING AT 600 ARGUELLO STREET TO THE CITY: The Recreation Commission
thought this building would be of no value to their department and would not fit in the present recrea-
tion program.
