M. WERDER
Mayor of the City of Redwoo$ity
COUNCILMAN MORGAN REPORTED THAT ONE TREE HAD BEEN RE`?OVED ON HARRISON STREET THAT WAS BLOCKING SEWERS.
3©S
Son of the owner advised him that a tree surgeon said that only the one tree was causing the trouble
and they wished to leave the other two standing, however, if it any time in the future it was found
k they were causing trouble they would be willing to remove them at any time. The matter was dropped
t at this time.
i
f
COU,1CILh`EN T+AP,GAN ASKED THAT CITY ATTORNEY REPORT TO THEM ON POSSIBILITY OF ABANDONING WATER SYSTEii IN
f
!
EMERALD LAKE DISTRICT. As chairman of that Committee Mr. 14organ did not think the City should be
in a district outside the City as the cost to the City would be prohibitive. City Attorney desired
that this be placed on the agenda for the first meeting in October.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER ASKED IF THE ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT COULD GIVE ANY INFORMATION IN REGARD TO THE REMOVAL
OF POLES ON JEFFERSON BETWEEN BROADd1AY & MARSHALL. He wanted to know if it was up to the City or if
some plan could be worked out with Pacific Gas & Electric Company to remove them. Fire Chief Lodi
#, reported that PG&E and the City both had equipment on some of them. Councilman Granger asked about
t
present program. The equipment would eventually be mored to poles on Walnut Street, there would be
no cost as labor only was involved in the job. Electroliers which were provided for in budget would
have to be installed. The request for lights on Topaz would have to come first. Poles would not be
removed during the winter, but possibly next spring.
CCUNCILMAPI GRANGER SUGGESTED THAT PARKING SHOULD BE PROHIBITED ON THE NORTHERLY SIDE OF EL CAMINO NEAR
IiHIPPLE for a number of feet to eliminate the necessity pf people getting out into the street on
E1 Camino Real in order to determine the condition of traffic before crossing. This was to be
f
referred to the TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE.
COUNCILIM GRANGER STATED THERE SHOULD BE AN ORDINANCE TO GIVE THE PEDESTRIAN THE, RIGHT OF WAY. Sgt. E.
f
Fogarty was questioned on this and he stated the California Vehicle Code applied to all instances
and this included pedestrian right of way. It was"thought that Cities also adopted ordinances to
-{ the same effect. Mayor Werder stated that traffic conditions here needed a complete overhauling and
i
felt that things would be different in the near future. Councilman Granger moved this problem be
referred to the TRAFFIC FACT FINDTNC COMMITTEE for consideration, seconded by Councilman Spillers
i
E and carried.
COUNCILMAN SWIFT ALSO OBJECTED TO YOUNGSTERS RIDING BICYCLES ON THE SIDEWALKS.
COUNCTLIV N GRANGER MOVED THAT CONSIDERATION`OF AMUSEMENT LICENSE ORDINANCE BE PLACED ON THE AGENDA FOR
I
!, THE NEXT MEETING, the matter having been previously discussed at a study meeting, seconded by
