Principal subject <br />on the agenda was Air Pollution in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was requested that all ordinances, <br />rulesand regulations having any bearing upon the subject be listed and memorandum be sent to the Oak— <br />land office. City Manager Rolison had phoned the League of California Cities who have a representativ e <br />over there and as the City had no such ordinances, etc, there was not much need in sending anyone from <br />here as the City would be represented by the League, and we would be kept informed of anything con— <br />cerning this area. Communication filed. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF TENTATIVE MAP OF CORDILLERAS PARK #2 AS REVISED, SUBJECT TO (1) <br />REVISION OF NAME TO HEATHER GARDENS (2) REARRANGEMENT OF STREET LIGHTING TO APPROVAL OF CITY ENGINEER. <br />Since recommended approval, a letter was submitted to the Council subject to (1) decision on name of <br />subdivision, (2) Complete checking by City Engineer (3) Submission of Subdivider's Agreement and bonds <br />by the subdivider. Councilman Granger had attended the Planning Commission meeting and stated there <br />was considerable discussion on new names for subdivisions and that some policy should,be set in regard <br />to new names, such as Cordilleras Park #1, 2 & 3. There was no Cordilleras Park #1. In this instance <br />he moved approval of Planning Commission recommendation subject to Engineer's approval, seconded.by <br />Councilman Holmquist. Associate Engineer Carozza stated that plans were not checked; as yet there <br />were no plans or profiles ready for recording. Councilman Granger withdrew his motion with the con— <br />sent of the second. -Mr. Murphy (Murphy Subdivision) was present and appeared stating rather than dd.lay to <br />c hange3 the name he was willing to have.approval of subdivision as heather Gardens. City Attorney's <br />opinion was that the Council could approve the map at this meeting. 'Councilman Granger moved approval <br />of map subject to approval of Engineering Department with revision of name to Heather Gardens, seconded <br />by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />LENOLT TRACT IMPROVEMENTS, PUBLIC HEARING. Affidavits of publications, mailing and posting were ordered <br />filed by the Mayor. This wasthe time set for hearing on Resolution of Intention pursuant to notices <br />given. Rose Solari, owner of Lot 1, Block 8, Lot 1, Block 11 and Lotsl and 11, Block 14, Lenolt, and <br />S. A.Thompson, owner of lot 8. Block 7, filed.written protests to the proposed work and improvements. <br />Harry H. Weiner, owner of property at Stafford and A Streets and Adolph Bowman, owner of Lot 9, Block <br />7, Lenolt filed letters stating they were willing to pay for new improvements but not those that were <br />already installed. Michael Counihan, 802 Whipple Avenue, verbally protested paying for improvements. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that all objections be overruled as protests were not made by more than one— <br />half the property -owners of property proposed to be assessed for the work and improvements, seconded <br />by Councilman Holmquist and carried. <br />RESOLUTION 794. COUNCILMAN HOLMQUIST OFFERED RESOLUTION AND MOVED ADOPTION ORDERING THE WORK AND CALLING <br />FOR BIDS FOR.LENOLT TRACT IMPROVEMENTS, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Time foropening of bids was <br />set for two weeks from this date, October. 31, 1949 at 8:00 P.M.
