C. <br />tion <br />I <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />October 17, 1949,•8:00 PM <br />329 <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Carl A Britschgi, Floyd D Granger, H W.Holmquist, Albert <br />H Morgan, Jr., Mayor W M Werder and City Clerk Ralph S.Dodge. Also present were Building Inspector L <br />M Duncan, Assistant Building Inspector Stephen Kreiss, Water Superihtendent H L Winter, Associate En— <br />gineer M Carozza, City Collector P E Perrin, City Attorney C B Currie,City Manager E A Rolison,.Auditor— <br />Assessor J J Brophy. Councilman SpillerVand Swift noted absent. <br />APPROVAL OF -MINUTES AS MAILED. Minutes of the regular meeting of Rctober 3rd were approved as mailed on motion <br />of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Holmquist and carried. <br />MRS. L KUCK, 36 SPRUCE STREET, FIVE_POINTS, letter was read protesting the fact that a fence dividing her <br />property from the Five Points Hotel had been knocked down several times, and wished to know what could <br />be done about it. Councilman Britschgi moved that int be referred to the proper authorities tnd that <br />she be notified, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />COMMUTERS CLUB SUBMITTED LETTER IN RE TO.PROPOSED FARE RAISE BY SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY commending the <br />Council on their action opposing this measure. Tribune reporter was to make public Council's appreciation <br />of letter and cooperation from Commuters Club also. Letter filed. <br />FINAL 10 PER CENT OF TOTAL CONTRACT PRICE ON COMMUNITY PARK BASEBALL DIAMOND SPRINKLER SYSTEM, IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $238.60 was approved for payment to Redwood Plumbing Company, Inc., by -the Engineering Department, <br />the 35 day period having expired. Councilman Holmquist moved that the bill be paid, seconded by Council— <br />man Britschgi and carried. <br />REQUEST TO CORRECT 1949-50 TAX ROLL BY ASSESSOR BROPHY IN SEVEN INSTANCES in accordance with Section 4986.2 <br />Taxation and Revenue Code was granted on motion of Councilman Holmquist seconded by Councilman Morgan <br />and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION•RECOMMENDED CHANGING NAME OF LIGUORI TO MARSHALL STREET AS IT WAS A <br />STREET. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved approval, City Attorney to prepare ordinance to be introduced at the next <br />meeting, seconded by Councilman Holmquist and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL OF SAM GOLD FOR.VARIANCE TO CHANGE FRONT SETBACK FROM 25 FEET TO 20 <br />FEET. A public hearing was held on the application after proper ppblication. ,Councilman Granger moved <br />moved approval, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. I <br />, <br />PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVED RESUBDIVISION OF LOT 5, BLOCK G, WJODSIDE ACRES SO THAT Nil FIFTY—SIX (56) FEET <br />MIGHT BE USED AS A, BUILDING SITE, SUBJECT TO FOLLUMING RESERVATIONS: (1) That twenty—five (25) feet <br />on the rear of lot be reserved for future street purposes. (2) That the rear yard setback be measured <br />from the future street line of Hawes Street. Councilman Granger moved approval, seconded by Councilman <br />Morgan.and d4rried. <br />VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS INVITED THE COUNCILTO ATTEND DEDICATION CEREMONIES TO BE HELD.BY CPL. JAMES LINDSAY <br />WILSON POST 2310 ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1949 at 2 P.M. At that time the post would dedicate.a bronze <br />plaque in honor of World Vfar II deceased from this community to be placed on the lawn just behind the <br />flag pole in the Civic Center, Redwood City and asked that the Mayor accept the plaque on behalf of the <br />citizens of the City of Redwood City. As the Mayor had planned to be out of the city on that date, Coun— <br />cilman Morgan moved that Councilman Granger act in his stead, that authority be so granted and ithe Vet— <br />erans of Foreign Wars be notified, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. Mr. Joe S Farr appeared <br />and asked that the Council put up a foundation and furnish the labor f6r the plaque to be set on. Approx— <br />imately 50 names appear on the plaque to be delivered on November 1st. Councilman Holmquist moved that <br />the Park Department be instructed in re to•the foundation and referred to the proper authorities, Mr. <br />Farr to get in touch with City Manager Rolison, seconded by Councilman Granger. Permission had been <br />secured befdre the war. Mr.Rolison stated the Street Department would actually do the work. Motion <br />carried. <br />0 <br />
