34 Service
,.
furnishing of a 3/4 Ton International Pickup Truck for the sum of
$1485.13, which was the lowest bid submitted. Councilman Spillers moved that recom-
mendation of City Manager Rolison be approved, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and
carried. In regard to the Heavy Duty Trucks, City Manager Rolison recommended that
a contract be awarded to the Weltner Motor Company for two G.M.C., 161 inch wheel-
base trucks for the sum of $5392.32 which was provided for in the current 1945-49
budget. This was the second lowest bid covering 1-1/2 ton trucks but the lowest
for trucks with the longest wheelbase. Under discussion it was revealed that the
longer wheelbase was more adaptable for,the City's needs and could be used for more
purposes, however, the wheelbase was not called -for in the bids as everything was
not available and it was thought certain specifications might rule out some bidders.
Mayor Werder thought the bids were a little too general and that more specifications -
should'be included in call for bids. Councilman Britschgi moved that bids be
rejected for the Heavy Duty Trucks and new specifications written up to set type of
i
vehicle desired in Items 2 and 3. Motion carried.
BIDS SUBMITTED FOR1-1/2 TON TRUCK AND OTHER SPECIAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE ELECTRICAL DEPART-
MENT., Fire Chief Lodi and City Manager Rolison recommended that the contract be
awarded to the Weltner Motor Company for the G.M.C. truck for the sum of $3,627.00
which was the lowest bid submitted.
