o'clock P.M. of said day at the Council Chamber in the City Hall on Middlefield 35
<br />Road in said City of Redwood City, as the time and place when the owner of the build-
<br />ings situated upon said real property could appear and be heard and show cause why
<br />said buildings should not,be condemned as a public muisance and abated by reconstruc-
<br />ting or properly repairing said buildings or by raxing or removing the same; and
<br />P
<br />WHEREAS, said Council did regularly continue said hearing until the 24th day of
<br />September, 1949, at 9:00 o'clock P.M., and
<br />WHEREAS, the City Clerk adjourned the meeting to Monday, September 27, 1949, due
<br />to lack of a quorum; and
<br />WHEREAS, on the 27th day of September, 1945, said Council did regularly continue
<br />said hearing until the 4th day of October, 1949, at 5:00 o'clock P.M., and
<br />WHEREAS, said Council did proceed, on the 4th day of October, 1949, with said
<br />hearing, and after considering all objections made and received, does determine that
<br />due and legal notice of said hearing was given as required by the ordinances of the
<br />City of Redwood City, as appears from the affidavit of L. M. DUNCAN on file in the
<br />_ office of the City Clerk;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City and
<br />said Council does hereby declare the buildings or structures situated -upon the real
<br />property hereinabove described to be a public nuisance, and does hereby direct the
<br />owner thereof to abate said nuisance within thirty (30) days from the adoption of
<br />this resolution by having said buildings razed or removed, and if said buildings are
<br />not so abated by said owner; the Building Inspector of the City of Redwood City is
<br />hereby ordered and directed to raze or remove said buildings, and that the expenses
<br />thereof be made a lien on the lot or parcel of land from which said buildings or
<br />structures are removed and which is hereinabove described.
<br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular
<br />meeting thereof held on the 4th day of October, 1949, by the following vote:

<br />COUNCILMAN GRANGER BROUGHT UP THE PROBLEM OF CURB SALE OF USED AUTOMOBILES. City Attorney.
<br />Currie stated that any person selling two cars or more would become a used car
<br />dealer, and the ordinance could be enforced. Councilman Granger thought that licen-
<br />sed used car dealers should be protected. Mr. Van Buren appeared and talked of
<br />j,- several ways in which to check on persons operating in this way, but stated that it
<br />would take the full time of one man to do so. Chief Collins reported that on few
<br />occasions gas stations had been notified to stop selling cars. Councilman Britschgi
<br />moved that this be referred back to City Attorney Currie to report back in two weeks,
<br />that with Police Department and the Ordinance under which the law could be enforced,
<br />if the dealers would do some checking on their own, these violations could be re-
<br />ferred to the Police. Motion seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried.
<br />REMOVAL OF POLES ON WESTERLY SIDE OF JEFFERSON AVENUE BETWEEN BROADWAY AND MIDDLEFIELD.
<br />Pursuant to instructions of the Council, a communication requesting removal of these
<br />poles had been directed to the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company to which no
<br />reply had been received. Since the Pacific Gas &.Electric Company's poles located
<br />on the Easterly side -of Jefferson Avenue between Broadway and Marshall Street, at
