368,1 <br />lorton.. fiecreation Director. <br />r3EAVERS ATHLETIC CLUB IN LETTER BY MEL ItENDALL, SECRETARY, expressed appreciation for <br />cooperation extended to them by Mr. Red Horton, Superintendent of Recreation in all <br />of their activities which had been carried on in connection with his department. <br />The club was recently reorganized and they hoped to be of some service to the com- <br />munity from a recreational standpoint. Communication ordered filed, Mr. Morton <br />to be made aware of communication. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED RESUBDIVISION OF Lots 37 and 38, Block 8, Central Park <br />No. 1 into two equal parcels 65 x 83.12 subject to cash bond of $350 to be put up <br />for guarantee of construction of sewer and water lines to both lots. Councilman <br />} Swift moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. (-^ <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED AMENDMENT OF SECTION 4 of Ordinance 600, so that Block <br />5, Friendly Acres No. 1 be rezoned from R-4 to R-2 District. It was originally <br />intended that the Block be zoned R-2 but through drafing error the published map <br />indicated R-4 in Block 5, instead of R-2. Two public hearings were held and no <br />protests were received. Councilman Morgan moved approval of recommendation, see- <br />onded by Councilman Swift and carried. <br />PROPOSED RAISE IN RATES BY SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY ON PENINSULA. City Attorney Currie <br />stated a letter had been received from Mr. McCarthy and he and Mr. Magee would like <br />to be present when this came up. Councilman Morgan moved that a copy of Mr. Magee's <br />letter be given to each Councilman and placed on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />As there was no second, motion was withdrawn. <br />HOUSING AUTHORITY OF COUNTY OF SAIT MA`TEO, P. 0. BOX 1095, Burlingame, California sub- <br />. '--, <br />mitted request to make survey to see if there was need of low rent program in <br />Redwood City. Benefits of public low rent housing under terms of 1949 National <br />Housing Act were being studied by San Mateo and Daly City. Commissioners of the <br />Housing Authority.w6re Re'v.!Jdhh,Ei Marozik of Redwood City, F. A. Bloom, Executive <br />Director and Legal Counsel and would like to meet with the City Council members. <br />The survey would be at no cost to the City made by the Research Institute of <br />Stanford University. The letter asked for authority to see if there was such a <br />need of a low -rent program in Redwood City. A similar request had previously been <br />referred to the Planning Commission and Real Estate Board. Councilman Morgan moved <br />that this be referred to the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Britschgi <br />and carried. <br />COUNTY TAX'COLLECTOR, RALPH C. - MacARTHUR SUBMITTED A LETTER IN REGARD TO SALE BY THE CITY <br />OF Lot 5, Block 2 and Lot 10, Block 2, Jefferson Avenue Addition, to Barnsley and -' <br />Marsh, and they in turn had sold to Anna M. Ludgus, 3070 Middlefield Road. The <br />transactions were made about two years ago. An agreement of sale dated September <br />18, 1945 between the City and County entitled the County to a pro -rate share of <br />the proceeds. The County still carried this property on their records showing <br />delinquent taxes from 1927 and 1930. City Collector Perrin reported that the lots <br />had been sold for $100 each and the County should have received their share. Coun- <br />cilman Britschgi moved that the City Collector check with Mr. MacArthur and that he <br />receive the County's share, seconded by Councilman Ivtorgan and carried. <br />REPORT ON OVERTIME. Councilman Holmquist, chairman, of this committee submitted report <br />of the committee members including Councilmen Britschgi and Spillers.
