WERDER
Mayor of the City of Redwood City
SIDEWALK REPAIR PROGRAM. City Manager Rolison reported that under Ordinance No. 402,
the Building Inspector would not grant permit unless a regulation sidewalk was to be
constructed, but provided no penalty in the event of non-compliance and was not to
be considered as adequately effective. Under Ordinance No. 333 cost of sidewalks
was chargeable to property owner following posting of notices and passing of Resolu-
tion of Intention, conducting hearings, etc. and was considered too cumbersome for
lesser repairs of this nature. For some time City Departments had been working with
the City Attorney in preparation of an ordinance which would simplify consideration
of sidewalk construction, copies of,which had been handed to Council members for their
perusal. It was their joint recommendation that Ordinances No. 333, and No. k02 should
be replaced with the new ordinance. Engineering Department had made a partial survey
of many conditions to be corrected. Once the ordinance was adopted they expected to
proceed in an orderly manner to make necessary improvements. Councilman Britschgi•
offered introduction of ordinance, seconded.by Councilman Morgan and carried.
