<br />REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL
<br />March 6th, 1950, 8:00 P. M.
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen: Carl A. Britschgi, A. V. Swift,
<br />Mayor W. M. Werder, Floyd D. Granger, H. E. Holmquist, Albert H. Morgan,'Jr., Robt. V.
<br />Spillers, and City Clerk Ralph S. Dodge. Also present were: City Manager E. A.
<br />Rolison, City Attorney C. B. Currie, City Engineer Glenn 14. Jain, Police Chief Stanley
<br />Wood, Deputy Fire Chief Willis Leslie, Fire Chief Willis Leslie, Fire Inspector
<br />Richard Drivon, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan, Assistant Building Inspector Stephen
<br />Kreiss, City Collector P. E. Perrin, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter; Auditor -
<br />Assessor J. J. Brophy.
<br />JUNIOR COUNCIL consistine of 7th and 8th graders of McKinley and Mt. Carmel Schools had
<br />prebiously taken Council seats and were introduced by the Mayor as follows: Councilman
<br />Ed Cesario, Councilwomen: Nancy Cohen, Shirley Allinson, Mayor Tom Middleton, Coun-
<br />cilmen Jack Brophy, Roger Flynn, Councilwoman Bonnie Wilson, Fire Chief Tom Gooding,
<br />Police Chief John Jones, City Manager Don Sellers. They held a meeting for a short
<br />period discussing SIDEWALKS, SWIMMING POOL, CREEK COVERING and FIRE PREVENTION.
<br />Minutes in detail were written up for them on subjects discussed, City Clerk Dodge
<br />having taken the roll call as for the regular meeting. As this was Junior City
<br />Government Day the Junior Council had spent the day visiting the various departments
<br />and at the close of the meeting Mayor Middleton voiced appreciation of the Junior
<br />Council members for the cooperation of Mayor Werder and the various City officials
<br />in showing them the City in action and especially the luncheon provided by,Mayor
<br />Werder.
<br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES. Councilman Morgan moved approval, seconded by Councilman Spillers of
<br />the minutes of regular meeting, February 20th, the adjourned regular meeting of .the
<br />21st with the correction of Councilman Granger with reference to motion regarding the
<br />Library Board that they be authorized to "transfer from the Building Fund to Salary
<br />Fund the amount remaining after completion of painting and gutter job", and adjourned
<br />regular meeting of the 27th. Motion carried.
<br />RESTAURANT APPLICATION, JOE L. JOLLER, FOX SHOPPE, 432 E1 Camino Real, haveing been approved
<br />by the Health, Building, Fire and Police Departments, permit was granted on motion of
<br />Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried.
<br />LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES, DINNER ANNOUNCEMENT, L'Omlette French Restaurant, 1171 E1
<br />Camino Real, South of Palo Alto, Thursday, March 16th, at seven. Phil S. Bigson,
<br />Chief Justice, Supreme Court of California vo uld speak on "Inferior Court Re -organi-
<br />zation". It was thought the usual group would attend, C.o mcilmen to be notified later
<br />and Judge Thorpe was to be invited.
<br />SCOUTMASTER, HIRAM S. STOUT, OF TROOP 120 requested permission from the Council for the
<br />Boy Scouts to paint the house numbers on the street curbs. Permission would be ob-
<br />tained from the home owner before the work would be started and a good job guaranteed.
<br />Mr. Stout had not yet secured approval of scout headquarters in Burlingame but this
