<br />RESOLUTION No. 839, ABATEMENT 804 Walnut Street. Sworn testimony of Building Inspector
<br />Duncan was taken on this property: illegal wiring; illegal plumbing; no foundation;
<br />bathroom without ventilation; floor below ground level; toilet opens from kitchen;
<br />shingles missing from roof; building in unsanitary condition; wood structure with
<br />shingled walls and roof in No. 1 Fire District; this building is beyond repair, a fire
<br />and life hazard and in the recommendation of the Building Inspector should be demolished
<br />and the lot cleared. Councilman Granger offered resolution that steps be taken to abate
<br />this building and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried on roll
<br />call.
<br />RESOLUTION No. 839
<br />DECLARING PREMISES 804 WALNUT STREET A NUISANCE AND
<br />ABATEMENT WITHIN THIRTY DAYS
<br />THEIR
<br />WHEREAS, L. M. DUNCAN, the Building Inspector of the City,of Redwood City, did,
<br />as required by Ordinance No. 303, post a notice to abate nuisance upon the real prop-
<br />erty situated in said City, County of San Mateo, California, and particularly
<br />described as follows:
<br />804 Walnut Street, Redwood City, - '
<br />California, more particularly described
<br />as Lot 140 Block 17, Sweeney Addition;
<br />and did send a copy of said notice so posted, by registered mail, postage prepaid,
<br />to the owners of said real property, as said owners are listed upon the books,of the
<br />City Assessor of said City of Redwood City, to wit:

<br />WHEREAS in and by said notice to abate nuisance said Building Inspector of the
<br />City of Redwood City did fix March 6, 1950, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. of said
<br />day, in the Council Chamber at the City Hall on Middlefield Road in said City of
<br />Redwood City, as the time and place when the owners of the buildings situated upon
<br />said real property could appear and be heard and show cause why said buildings should
<br />not be condemned as a public nuisance and abated by reconstructing or properly re-
<br />pairing said buildings or by razing or removing the same; and
<br />WHEREAS said Council did proceed with said hearing on March 6, 1950, and after
<br />considering all objections made and received, does determine that due and legal
<br />notice of said hearing was given as required by the ordinance of the City of Redwood
<br />City, as appears from the affidavit of L. M. DUNCAN on file in the office of the
<br />City Clerk;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Redwood City, and
<br />said Council does hereby declare, that the buildings or structures situated upon the
<br />real property hereinabove described are a public nuisance, and does hereby direct
<br />the owners thereof to abate said nuisance within thirty days from the adoption of
<br />this resolution, by having said building razed or removed;
<br />and if said buildings are not so abated by said owners, the Building Inspector of
<br />the City of Redwood City is hereby ordered and directed to raze or remove said
<br />building,
<br />and that the expenses thereof be made a lien on the lot or parcel of land from which
<br />said building or structure is removed,
<br />and which is hereinabove described.
<br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting
<br />thereof, held on the 6th day of March, 1950, by the following vote: "
<br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution,
<br />Councilmen: BRITSCHGI, GRNAGER, HOLMQUIST, MORGAN, SPILLERS, SWIFT, and Mayor WERDER.
