Also those making such application could apply for annexation to the City, however any- thing in the County area was the responsibility of the County Fire Department. Councilman Holmquist moved this be tabled until City Attorney Currie could render an opinion to the Council regarding legal responsibility of the City in answering such calls, seconded by Councilman Britschgi, and carried. CALIFORNIA PACIFIC TITLE INSURANCE COMPANY REQUESTED RELEASE of 5 feet right-of-way or easement which was conveyed to the City by Redwood Highlands Company, November 2, 1914, and recorded November 1; 1917, and extended across the rear of lots to take care of future utility requirements. Title company was making search on title to Lot 17, Block 11, Map of Redwood Highlands, and Lot 18, Block 11, Map of Resub- division of Dingee Park, which lots adjoined lots on the NW corner of Birch Street and Hopkins Avenue, and came across this exception. Councilman Britschgi moved this be referred to the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. FURTHER PROTEST DOG NUISANCE, RUBY STREET AREA. Mrs. Christine Johnson, one of the signers of a previous petition, in a letter to the Council stated that owners had let their dogs run again and they were again being annoyed and asked that something be done about the regulation. The Poundmaster was called but on arrival said he could not pick up the dog as the owner could sue him. Under discussion Acting City Attorney Lebsack stated the remedy was to sign a complaint against the owner of the dog if this was regarded a nuisance and have a hearing on the matter in court. Coun- cilman Holmquist suggested that a.letter be written informing them of their rights in the matter. Councilman Morgan stated that this was primarily a court matter and that it should be handled in that manner. Mr. R. E. Bernhardt appeared and stated I there was a reluctance for any one to sign such complaints as no one wished to incur the enmity of their neighbor and thought dogs should be leashed. SAN MATEO COUNTY TRAFFIC SAFETY COIRAISSION.ADDRESSED A LETTER TO ''!HE CITY COUNCIL SIGNED BY THEIR CHAIRMAN, Francis A. Raymond, in regards to an Accident Prevention Committee representing Redwood City on a County -wide Safety Council. Lt. William Faulstich of the Redwood City Police Department had attended one of their meetings. If the Council approved the plan and wished to participate they were to name a General Chairman, representing their City, and members on each of the following committees; Education, Engineering, Enforcement and Publicity. There were to be 5 in all from each City. Councilman Britschgi moved that a recommendation be submitted from the City's Traffic Fact Finding Committee with regard to what they might have to offer, the writer of the letter was to be apprised of the action taken by the Council and that he would receive the appointments very shortly, seconded by Councilman Morgan. Motion carried. SANMATEO COUNTY REALTY OFFERED A BUILDING TO THE CITY which was located on the northwest corner of Fuller and Warren Streets. If accepted the building would have to be removed within thirty days from the date of letter which was the 16th. The letter was signed by B. L. Solomon. Police Chief Wood stated the building could be used by the Police Department on the proposed pistol range site and the men in his depart- ment would dismantle it and remove it. Councilman Britschgi had offered a motion but withdrew it and Councilman Granger moved that the building be accepted under the terms that dismantling of building be taken over by the Police Department, seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. 9 i
