Motion carried. <br />AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION ORDERED FILED by Mayor Werder on Amendment to Zoning Ordinance <br />No. 600, rezoning Lots 11 to 16 and portion of 17, Block 51 Tract 559, Friendly <br />Acres subdivision from R-2 to C -1-H District. <br />ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE 600.8 amending Zoning Ordinance 600, rezoning Lots 11 to 16 and <br />portion of 17, Block 5, Tract 559,Friendly Acres Subdivision from R-2 to C -1-H <br />District. Councilman Britschgi moved adoption of ordinance, seconded by Councilman <br />Morgan and carried on roll call. Councilman Spillers noted absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, R. D. SIFFORD, APPEAL IN MATTER OF DENIAL FOR PERMISSIVE VARIANCE in use <br />of Lot 4. Block 9, Kensington Square. Notices had been sent out to surrounding <br />property owners and this was the time set for the hearing. Planning Commission had <br />denied this for the second time. Councilman Granger moved denial of permit based <br />upon Planning Commission recommendation, seconded by Councilman Morgan. The request <br />was in order to build a store at Jefferson and Alameda. Motion carried. Mr. Robert <br />E. Hauser submitted a letter on behalf of Mr. Sifford asking that the hearing be <br />postponed and action delayed for six months as he was out of the City on other <br />business. The notices had previously been..mailed and the hearing was held on this <br />date as scheduled. <br />REZONING FRONTAGE ATHERWOOD ON WOODSIDE ROAD. At the last Council meeting the Planning <br />Commission had made recommendations to R-4, R-2 and R-1 for different portions. <br />Acting City Attorney Lebsack informed the Council that because of overlapping areas, <br />the City Attorney suggested this be put over until proper information was given. <br />Councilman Britschgi moved that this be placed on agenda for the next meeting, <br />seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />PETITION FOR SEWERS, STAMBAUGH AREA. City Engineer Jain submitted letter with petition <br />attached representing 33.7 per cent of the total assessable frontage in this area. <br />More signatures could not be secured by circulators of petition but they requested <br />that the Council order the work to be done as`a public necessity from a sanitary <br />standpoint. It was thought that State law permits sanitary sewers to be ordered <br />constructed by the City Council upon report from the Health Department that unsani- <br />tary conditions exist. If plans and specifications were ordered prepared it was <br />requested that costs be advanced from the General Fund to be reimbursed from the <br />assessment district. Mr. Paul De Benedetti appeared and stated that owners had been <br />I <br />contacted by letter and many of them were not interested in the improvement but <br />i <br />wanted to sell their property. Councilman Morgan moved that the Health Department <br />report to the Council on this condition, seconded by Councilman Swift and carried. <br />PETITION FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS. Whipple Avenue from Alameda de las Pulgas to Circle <br />Road. City Engineer Jain submitted letter recommending that his office be author- <br />ized to prepare plans and specifications and set up a joint assessment district, <br />subject to approval of County Board of Supervisors, cost to be advanced from <br />General Fund to be reimbursed from assessment district. Petition attached carried <br />i <br />80.8 per cent of assessable frontage other than City owned property. City owned <br />21.4.9.70 feet of property - Redwood City Park. The street lay entirely outside City <br />boundaries but the County preferred that the City prepare the plans and specifica- <br />tions, the Board of Supervisors to pass necessary resolutions authorizing the City <br />to handle project.
