that the Sequoia Hospital District dedicate 36 feet additional right-of-way so that 44 3
<br />Whipple Avenue could be extended as future major street, to connect eventually with
<br />Cordilleras Road and Edgewood Road west of Hospital property. Recommended curbs could
<br />then be constructed at their ultimate location and 17 foot strip of pavement on each
<br />side with a 22 foot red rock area for parking. Center portion could be improved at no
<br />cost to adjoining property owners. Councilman Holmquist moved approval of recommen-
<br />dation, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried.
<br />CHRISTMAS TREE MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $2541.65 which was allowed for the Sewage Treatment
<br />Plant and had not been used was available according to City Engineer Jain. It must be
<br />applied for within one year and could be used only for certain projects. It was recom-
<br />as the money must fot for general City betterments and could not be applied to any one
<br />thing.
<br />RESOLUTION No. 847, AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER ROLISON to request the State Board of Finance
<br />.a portion of the money not used for the Sewage Treatment Plant in the amount of $$1330.20
<br />to be used for the Tide Gate Project was offered and moved for adoption by Councilman
<br />Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Morgan, and carried on roll call. Councilman

<br />AUTHORIZING CITY MANAGER TO REQUEST FUNDS FOR PREPARATION OF
<br />ENGINEERING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR TIDE GATE PROJECT.
<br />1. WHEREAS, the State of California under Chapter 47, Statutes of 1944s (4th
<br />Extra Session) had appropriated funds for allotment by the Director of Finance to
<br />provide financial assistance to Local Agencies defined therein as counties, cities
<br />or cities and counties for the purpose of defraying not to exceed one-half the cost
<br />of preparing engineering field surveys, engineering or architectural designs, and
<br />working and detailed drawings and specifications (hereinafter calla "Plans") required
<br />for post war public works projects described as "specific projects" in said Act; and
<br />2. WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City, hereinafter designated as "Local Agency",
<br />desires to apply to the Director of Finance and/or the Post War Public Works Review
<br />Board, as the case may be, for an allotment of the State's share of the estimated
<br />cost of preparing the completed plans hereinafter mentioned and there has been pre-
<br />pared and presented to this Legislative Body for consideration an application for
<br />such purpose; and
<br />3. WHEREAS, Local Agency has provided, or will make available upon approval of
<br />the forementioned application, sufficient funds to prepare the completed plans
<br />herein mentioned;
<br />4. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Local.Agency submit the aforesaid appli-
<br />cation to the Director of Finance and/or the Post War Public Works Review Board, as
<br />the case may be, requesting allotment of One Thousand, Three Hundred, Thirty and
<br />Twenty Hundredths ($¢1330.20) Dollars being not more than one-half the cost -of pre-
<br />paring said completed plans, or for such amount as may be approved by the Director of
<br />Finance and/or the Post War Public Works Review Board (said allotment to be used for
<br />the purpose of defraying the cost of preparing said completed plans required), for a
<br />specific project to be undertaken by local agency and described as Redwood Creek Tide
<br />Gate Structure;
<br />5. BE IT FURTHER. .RESOLVED, THAT THE ESTIMATED COST OF PREPARING SUCH PLANS IS
<br />Three Thousand, Two Hundred ($3200.00) Dollars and that Local Agency has made provision
<br />for paying one-half or more of the cost of preparing such plans;
<br />6. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that for the purpose of this application,•E. A.
<br />Rolison, City Manager, P. 0. Box 391, Redwood City, be and he hereby is designated as
<br />the authorized agent of Local Agency and is hereby authorized and directed to sign
<br />the above-mentioned application on behalf of the Local Agency and submit the same to
<br />the Director of Finance and/or the Post War Public Works review Board together with a
<br />certified statement of the estimated cost of preparing such plans and such other
<br />information as may be required; and said authorized agent is further authorized and
<br />directed as the representative of Local Agency to conduct all negotiations and con-
<br />clude all arrangements, including submission to the Director of Finance of applica-
<br />tions for reimbursement, which may be necessary to secure reimbursement, for the
<br />State's share of the expenditures made in preparing said completed plans.
<br />The above and foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the
<br />City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day of March, 1950,
