Fire protection outside City limits had been taken up earlier in the II meeting, and was placed on agenda, report to be brought back by City Attorney Currie. _ APPLICATION FOR LICENSE - HOME FOR THE AGED, Lucinda G. Abbott, 122 Clinton Street, made application to the Department of Public Health and Welfare, Social Service Division, and submitted to the Council for approval. Councilman Spillers moved this be referred to the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Holmquist. Councilman Granger moved I amendment to motion recommending Planning Commission deny request, seconded by Council- man Swift. Amendment defeated 5 to 2, Councilman Granger and Swift voting Yes. Roll call vote on the motion proper was carried unanimously. PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDED JOINT PROJECTS WITH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT where School grounds would be trufed. Their request would be for the School District to provide all pipe, seed, fertilizer and furnish the necessary water for the area and the Park Department would install and maintain such areas as watering, cutting and reseeding. The Commission felt that additional recreation areas should be provided in various sections of the City. Councilman Spillers moved this be referred to the Park and Recreation Department for report back on areas to be considered and cost and recommendation from the City Manager as to what should be considered for the budget, seconded by Councilman Granger, and carried. COLLINS has retired as Chief of Police of the City of Redwood City: 111 i I and WHEREAS, the position be held on the Disaster Council is now vacant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE, AND IT HEREBY IS RESOLVED that in accordance with Ordinance No. 595 of the City of Redwood City (relating to disasters), that Police Chief STANLEY D. WOOD is hereby named as Chief of Law and Order and Communications Division of the Disaster Council of Redwood City.
