7-7 <br />1 <br />1 <br />49'7 <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />CANCELLATION WEED ABATEMENT ASSESSMENTS IN AMOUNT OF $1137.339 City Collector requested <br />approval to cancel this amount from the current 1949-50 tax roll. A number of these <br />assessments were amde in error when the current tax roll was -prepared and the balance <br />were assessments against lots in the name of the City of Redwood City and State of <br />California. Councilman Holmquist moved the request be granted, seconded by Councilman <br />Morgan and carried. <br />CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SUBMITTED A LETTER COMPLIMENTING THE COUNCIL AND ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT <br />ON THE QUALITY AND READABILITY OF THE NEW STREET SIGNS IN THE AREA OF OAK AND ROOSEVELT <br />AVENUES. The letter was signed by President Fred A'. Schmitz. Councilman Granger <br />moved that the letter be filed with acknowledgement, seconded by Councilman Royer <br />and carried. <br />COMPLETION OF EAGLE HILL ALLEYS AND VIRGINIA AVENUE CONTRACTS, L. C. SMITH. City Engineer <br />Jain requested advice on proposed penalty of $50 per day. The time limit was 60 days <br />from the date of signing the contract. Although there were delays on these jobs, <br />because more recent jobs had been speeded up by this contractor Douncilman Werder <br />moved that the penalty be waived, however this was not to be construed that the Coun- <br />cil would waive penalty in other instances, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br />carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />APPROVAL M HANSEN TO RESUBDIVIDE LOT -113, BLOCK E. (1606 <br />KENTFIELD) IN 2 LOTS FACING KENTFIELD. Councilman Royer moved approval of Planning <br />Commission recommeddation, seconded by Councilman Werder and carried. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED GRANTING A VARIANCE TO F J McINTYRE TO REDUCE FRONT YARD <br />SETBACK FROM 20 FT TO 15 FT ON LOT 19 BLOCK 2, REESE TRACT (corner Redwood and Sierra). <br />A creek bisects property and cuts down the buildable area to a point of creating a <br />hardship. Councilman Granger offered resolution and moved adoption, seconded by <br />Councilman Holmquist and carried and roll call. <br />RESOLUTION No. 872. <br />GRANTING VARIANCE IN SETBACK LINE LOT 1, BLOCK 21 <br />REESE TRACT., <br />RESOLVED by the Council of Redwood City as follows: <br />1. That the findings o; the Board of Adjustments of the Planning Commission <br />of Redwood City, as container in Resolution No. 41-50 of said Board, with refererce <br />to the granting of a variance of F. J. McINTYRE ON Lot 1, <br />2. That the variance requested by said F. J. McINTYRE to reduce the front <br />setback line from twenty (20) feet to fifteen (15) feet on Lot 1, Block 2, Reese <br />Tract is hereby granted. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City -at a regular <br />meeting thereof, held on the 15th day of May, 1950, by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution, <br />Councilmen: GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, MORGAN, ROYER, SPILLERS,'VIERDER and Mayor BRITSCHGI, <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: I40I4E <br />ATTEST: <br />RICHARD D.
