BI,ITSOHGI <br />Ma,;or of the City of Redwood City <br />CONTINUATION OF HEARING ON OAK-REESE-JOHNSON STREET IMPROVEMENTS* Mr. Remmis and hir, GI <br />Peterson appeared and spoke in favor of constructing wooden bridges instead of con. <br />Crete claiming that several people in the area were of the same opinion. City Engin, <br />eer stated wooden bridges wou]d cost very little less than concrete, however, in order <br />to get the concensus of opinion of the residents of the area, hearing was again duly ` <br />and regularly continued to the regular meeting of August 21st at which time City Eng�. _ <br />eer would determine if the majority of the property ovners were in favor of continq• <br />t <br />C <br />ing the proceedings as covered by plans and specifications, or reject bids and start <br />over with wooden bridges substituted for concrete bridges, on. motion of Councilman <br />Jones and carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FRIENDLY ACRES. Bids were received as follows; <br />Y P. Sorensen $334.795.00 <br />Chas. Harney 338.916.80 <br />L. C. Smith 360.173.32 <br />Leo Piazza 421.565.16 <br />Bids were turned over to City Engineer Jain for checking and report back. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - FRIENDLY ACRES IMPROVEMENTS. There were five written protests as follows; <br />Emma C. Jost, West 2 Lot 11, Bock 6, Bell Haven Sub. <br />Adele Kattlemen, Lot 4, Block S. Belle Haven Sub. <br />Harvey K. Taylor, Lots 10A, and 10B, Block 4, Belle Haven Sub, <br />Helen &Joe Kanz, Sly 2 of Lot 6 and <br />NIly 2 of Lot 7, Block 9, Friendly Acres No. 1 <br />Petition signed by 22 property owners on 16th Ave. between <br />Page and Hoover Sts., stating their area known as Tract 601 <br />Lacey & White Sub. #3 had been improved after annexation <br />under the supervision of the City Engineer. <br />City Engineer explained that the areas already improved would be assessed only for <br />drainage costs. Mr. Mayhood, Mr. Von Herman, Mrs. Breed, Geo. Schlinker, Mr. Young" <br />i <br />blood and Mr. Larsen appeared and voiced their several objections. Mr. Clarence K. <br />Nevin of 3457 Bay Road presented a petition signed by six property owners requesting <br />i <br />that sidewalks in the block on May Road between 10th Avenue and Haven Avenue be in, <br />eluded in the improvement district. It was explained to Ifs. Nevin that this couldnot <br />be done at this time, but that the improvement would necessarily be handled as a <br />separate improvement if they so desired. There being no further protests, all VON <br />0verru]ed on Motion of Councilman Royer, seconded by Councilman Herkner, and carried, <br />REPORT ON FRIENDLY ACRES BIDS. City Egnineer Jain reported that there was a 10� error in j <br />Mr-Sorensen's bid.
