WHEREAS <br />all said objections were overruled and denied by said Council; and 151 <br />WI&REAS said Council did determine that, protests were not made by more than one-half (1/2) of the <br />owners of the property proposed to be assessed for said work and improvements; and <br />WHEREAS said Council has acquired jurisdiction to order said work and improvements: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY RESOLVES AS FOLLCYNS: <br />1. That the public convenience and necessity require, and said Council hereby orders, all the <br />work and improvements described in Resolution of Intention No. 946, passed and adotped by said Council <br />on August 213 1950) to be performed. For further particulars as to the work and improvements herein <br />ordered to be done and for a description of the area proposed to be assessed for said work and improve- <br />ments, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 946 on file in the office of the <br />Clerk of Redwood City - <br />2. That the work and improvements hereinabove described shall be done under the direction of the <br />City Engineer of said City of nedwood City, and that materiai used therein shall comply with the speci- <br />fications heretofore adopted; and' that the assessments to be made in said proceedings shall be made <br />and signed by said (City Engineer. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the Cityof Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof, held <br />on the 11th day of September, 1950, by the following vote: <br />AWES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution, Councilmen: GRANGER, <br />JONES) MORGAN, ROYER, SPILLERS, �BRITSCHGT.. <br />NOES, Cougcilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen- HERKNER <br />ATTEST: <br />RALPH S. Following bids were opened and read and referred to City Engineer Jain <br />for report back after checking: <br />L C Smith - $18,538.62 <br />P Sorensen - $192861.00 <br />COETTEE ON APPLICATION FOR LIQUOR LICENSE AT 814 MAIN STREET had been checking but asked that further time <br />be allowed and subject be placed on agenda. <br />'LE'NDLTNT TO ORDINANCE NO. 333• Mayor Britschgi stated the Council had discussed this matter at a caucus <br />and had decided to hold the adoption up for one week to give more time to consider and study further. <br />There were certain changes and modifications under consideration. Co. Weiss addressed the meeting in <br />'Opposition to such an ordinance being of the opinion that such an ordinance would disenfranchise the <br />People and give them no chance to vote on local improvements or projects should the Council desire. �I <br />r <br />blr. S. P. Youngblutt,1062 - 15th Avenue, Friendly Acres stated his objection to being taxed for improve- I'�iI I'' <br />ments in the cit <br />y proper while his area was in need of so many improvements. Col.Jas. A. ?4iller spoke <br />against the proposed amendment and L. A. Behrens raised a question as to amount to be offered for a <br />K P P , tulT <br />r lot proposed to be acquired in which he held an interest. Ernest Wilson stated that the prices for ac- N" <br />quisition o r <br />a f property were based on an appraisal made by a competent appraiser, and that the property <br />owner had recourse should he not be satisfied with theP rice offered. In answer to a question from <br />Councilman Jones, Mr. Wilson advised the Council had the constitutional right to adopt the amendment <br />!
