Councilman Granger stated his belief that the State should be asked to <br />set the limit and offered Resolution No. 977 and moved adoption. Councilman 'Spillers seconded the motion <br />,hachcarried on roll call. Councilman Jones noted absent. Mr. R. Miller advised the Traffic Committee <br />,s making traffic counts in the area, and it was decided to forward any information to the state with a <br />certified copy of the resolution. <br />RESOLUTION No. 977 <br />REQUESTING ESTABLISHMENT OF THIRTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR <br />SPEED LIMIT ON WOODSIDE ROAD IN THE CITY OF REDw00D CITY <br />RESMVED, by the Council of Redwood City, as follows: <br />4 <br />1. That the speed limit on portions of Woodside Road, being a State Highvray in, the City of Redwood <br />City, is 55 miles per hour, which speed is excessive speek in view of the heavy traffic and the numerous <br />cross entrances to said highway; <br />2. That the Division of Highways of the State of California, in conformity with provisions of the <br />Vehicle Code of the State of California, is hereby requested to decrease the prima facie speed limit on all <br />ofwoodside Road within the corporate limits of the City of Redwood City, namely, from E'1 Camino Real to <br />Alameda de las Pulgas, so that prima facie speed limit upon all of said highway, shall be thirty-five miles <br />per hour, which speed will facilitate the orderly movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe upon said <br />iaodside Road within the corporate limits of Redwood City. <br />3. Mayor Britschgi advised that he intended the committee to meet with the Personnel Board at <br />any time requested with no vote, but merely as a listening committee.
