CO., 3rd & Townsend Streets, S.F. 7, REFERENCE PEDESTRIAN GATES ATBROgRR
CROSSING. This letter of September 28th indicated they would prepare tentative cost estimate as quickly
as all pertinent information could be assesmbled and would place it in hands of Council in the nearfut,,,,
Councilman Granger thought some of the gravest traffic pro')lems at this crossing were due to freight
traffic and as a safety measure the S.P. FREIGHT WAREHOUSE SHOULD 13E CONDEMNED- A letter was to be
written to this effect, and they should show cause why it should not be removed. Councilman Granger
moved that the Council take the initiative and write such a letter to be prepared by the City Attorney,
directed to the highest authority of S -P- Co., seconded by Councilman Spillers. Mr. Granger was of the
opinion that the records would show that at one time S.P. intended to move this building to Butcher
Field. Motion carried.
A VETERAN HAD CONTACTED COUNCIT2rAN GRANGER ABOUT SEWAGE PROBLEM ON HARDING AVE, NUE. City Engineer Jain stated
he had not been able to contact the owner. A petition agreeing to be taxed covered only 5 or 6 lots
and there was no particular reason why the remaining lots could not be annexed. In a few months this
owner would probably be in wanting server connection. HEARING ON ANNEXATION LOTS 1 to 7 INCLUSIVE,
BLOCK 11 KENSINGTON SQ., pending signing of consent to taxation by property owners. Councilman Granger
stated Sifers Realty was selling property here and City Attorney stated he had received a call asking
who
that this be put over for another two weeks. In re to the transfer of liquor license to 814 ]]fain Street, City
Collector Perrin stated the owner decided it was too much expense to install a kitchen. Councilman.
Granger objected to granting liquor license to those who remodeled stores first and then applied for
permit. Application should be made before stores were remodeled. Motion carried.
TURFING AREA AROUND S'siD21ING POOL. Councilman Spillers suggested this be done now if possible, to prevent
dirt from getting into pool. City Manager thought this was a good suggestion and offered to look into
it. City Engineer stated cost of pool did not include turfing or vralk in front of building. Specific
area would have to be decided upon, whether to turf gout or all the way to the creek and a transfer of
money would be necessary before undertaking the work. Councilman 'Spillers moved that the City Manager
be authorized to report back to the Council on his findings re turfing area adjacent to the pool,
seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried.
TRAFFIC SIGNALS WERE SUGGESTED BY THE MAYOR FOR F A'S AREA AT 5th AVENUE AND BAYSHORE HIGHWAY. City Engineer
informed the Council this would take at least 2 years to accomplish as priority had to be established
and as the freeway was involved it would make it more complicated. More traffic was handled at Whipple
and Bayshore and no signals were installed there as yet. Councilman Spillers queried why cities both
sides of R C seemed to have accomplished more in this respect than R. C. City Manager informed him
the cities paid for the installation. Councilman Jones moved that this be referred to the Traffic
Fact Finding Committee for a survey of arteries onto Bayshore, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried.
, piAIiC1
clerl
r+her
tforgf
was
and -
1PM{`T F1
a
Hood
s
door,
i by t1
mover
count
out 1
a fef
had 4
!K ER
lette,
imate
Simi]
local
maxis'
writt
any c
wo*
MM(
tenai
not i
