Granger, S. D. Herkner, Paul Jones, <br />Albert <br />H. Morgan, Jr., Vdilliam H. Royer, Robert V. Spillers, Mayor Carl A. Britschgi and <br />City Clerk Pro -Tem Richard D. Miller. Also present were City Manager E. A. Rolison, City <br />Engineer Glenn M- Jain, Police Chief S. D. Wood, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Water Supt. H. L. <br />Winter, City Attorney C. B. Currie, Building Inspector L. M. Duncan and Assistant Building <br />Inspector L. M. Duncan' and Assistant Building Inspector Stephen Kreiss. <br />yPIrUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF NOVEMBER 6, 1950 were approved as mailed on motion of Councilman <br />Spillers, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. Later in the meeting •Couneiliman <br />Granger moved that the minutes be corrected as follows: -Page 1, Yacht Harbor, para•. two <br />should read in part: "Leslie Salt Co. had indicated they were agreeable to sale at 1501 <br />to the City to widen channel. City was to pay $500 and agree to certain conditions in- <br />cluding a provision that property would revert back to Leslie Salt for repayment of the <br />} 0500 in case of use for purposes other than Yacht Harbor," Motion was seconded by Council- <br />! .. <br />man Herkner and carried. <br />PROTEST OF ROSE SOLARI ON LENOLT ASSESSMENT received in Clerk's, office October 21, 1950, 5 days <br />.w <br />after hearing and overruling of protests. Letter was read. Councilman Granger moved <br />that City Engineer's office answer protest and that letter be filed, seconded by Council - <br />map Royer and carried. <br />a <br />PROTEST OF ATTORNEY WILLIAM E. WATSON FOR BENJAMIN M. LAUDERDALE ON POPLAR, JUNIPERO AND <br />VIRGINIA AVE. ASSESSMENT received in Clerk's office November 8, 19509 2 days after hearing <br />and overruling of protests. Letter was read. Councilman Royer moved, as above, that <br />protest be answered and filed, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />ROTICE OF APPLICATION FOR OFF SALE BEER AND WINE LICENSE BY CLAIR E. SILLMAN at 700 Cassia <br />Street. Councilman Morgan moved that Council take no action opposing permit, seconded <br />by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />IRTER FROM STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION REFERENCE APPLICATION FOR ON SALE LICENSE AT 814 MAIN <br />STREET was read. Letter was addressed to Clerk on October 13, 1950 and w as signed by <br />Raymond H. Williamson. He stated that city's protest on grounds that there were enough <br />bars in the area and granting of license would depreciate the property values, and <br />hinder the improvement of the district, was not valid based on decision as set forth in <br />City of San Diego v. the State Board of Equalization (82 Cal Ap.2d 453) • Councilman <br />Granger moved that City Attorney draft letter to Board of Equalization asking (1) on <br />whatro 2 whether or not a bar could <br />g ands a protest could be made and upheld, and ( ) <br />operate without a restaurant license. Motion was seconded by Councilman Royer and <br />harried. Councilman Morgan voting No. <br />ity INFORMATION FROM CITY ATTORNEY ON REGUTA TION OF MINIMUM LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS IN BARS' similar <br />ct, to existing laws in New York State was requested by Councilman Jones <br />ROTICE OF DINNER MEETING OF SAN MATEO COUNTY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION at Bondy' s, <br />Tuesday, November 14, 19509 7 P.M. was read for information of Councilman Royer and <br />Herkner, Redwood City' s representatives on the Commission.
