ENGINEER REPORT ON PROPOSED ANNEXATION LOTS 2 & 3 BLOCK 220 OAK KNOLL MANOR UP- 211
pND READ. Mrs. Zimmerman appeared and th4 problems of sewage and assessment distridst
e discussed• She was told by the County Health Dept. that they should try to be
Der
werexed to the City on account ofthe bad sewage condition and they would not issue permit
ann
for another septiJ& tank. Cit Engineer stated he could not give an estimate that she asked
for until he knew how many might be interested in the annexation and it would have to be
determined where connections should be made. It would, reduce the cost, of the individual ass-
essment if others would come in at the same time and share the expense. If more than 1.2
were interested
this would
o ldntecessitate write boldin an election. 90uncilman Granger suggested that
the Countyers people in this area stating the existingcon-
were unhealthful. They w ould more readily apply for annexation' if the had ths in -
"'n on.
Mrs. Zimmerman was to circulate a petition to enlarge the area for yannexation
.
formation.
Nr, Jain wrote a letter stating this would be a diifficult area to serve with sewers and the
annexation would involve that of a vera; irregular area.
RgWOOD CITY COMMUTERS CLUB REQUESTED PERMISSION TO OPERATE A RETAIL CHRISTMAS TREE SALES
LOT PROCEEDS TO GO TO BOY SCOUT TROOP. The lot would be under adult supervision. Nec-
essary insurance would be included and fire precautions observed. They asked that the
customary licesne fees be waived. They expected to have a location on E1 Camino Real
near Hopkins. Councilman Royer moved that permit be granted, they to assume all re-
sponsibility to clean up the lot, money to be deposited for clean-up and a pro -rata
fee charged for sales, seconded byo Councilman Spillers. Mr. E.* James Smith, President
was present and this was agreeable to him. Motion carried.
CARPENTER' S UNION REQUEST FOR PERMIT TO BUILD SIDEWALK ON CASSIA STREET ENTRANCE. Letter
was signed by J. J. Kelley, Ree. Seely. They had built a new hall a# Brmadway and Cassia
Streets and wished to build a sidewalk, curb and gutter to City's specifications,'but
they wanted to be assured they woild not be charged again for the. same work in an assess-
ment district.. City Eng. Jain had no objeftions, but would recommend only if pavement
was put,in adjacent to protect curb and gutter. With curb only, and people parking in
the mud Mr. Jain was afraid the curb would have to be done over, as this had happened in
the City in other locations. Redrock put in next to the gutter would prol3ably 'suffice.
City would spread if they bought the redrock in order to save their curb and gutter. Mr.
Raugeberg was present and thought something could be worked out in re the rock. Mr. Jain
did not approve any guarantee on the part of the Council that it would not have to be
done over at the time of the Broadway -Marshall Improvements and he also thought the street
skould be oiled. Councilman Spillers had moved that permit be granted, seconded by Coun-
cilman Morgan, and later maker and second accepted amendment suggested by Councilman
Royer that permit be granted to put in sidewalk, curbs and gutters with no guarantee that
they would not be assessed in the future if necessary. Councilman, Herkner suggested a
letter be written to Carpenters Union explaining the Council's position, including the
motion that was agreed upon with Mr. Haugeberg and with some -reference to the proposed
Broadway Marshall project. Motion carried.
DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS REQUEST 0100 BE SET ASIDE FOR VETERANS BUILDING MAINTENANCE.
They owed a bill to Holmquist Hardware of approximately X7.00 and respectfully requested
that the Council set. aside 010.0 to be available for this. account. Letter was signed by-
Fred
yFred R. Priest, Comdr. Councilman Morgan moved that this be drawn against General Govt.
on the suggestion of City Manaher Rolison, seconded by Councilman' Spillers.
