Councilman <br />seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />Herkner moved approval of recommendation, d� <br />{ and asked that bid be reconsidered as Genera <br />',�' •4' �'i�. �, iy�j, <br />Mr. Ross of Associated was present, 1 <br />Petroleum secured the business last year and they would like to participate this <br />year. Mr. Rolison admitted it was close, but claimed General Petroleum paid more <br />000 to y$40,000 vuilding in Redwood City and the <br />taxes and was <br />contemplating ar35, <br />balance tipped in their favor in considering the bids. <br />€'• �' '!I REPORT ON BID OPENING SALE OF POUND PROPERTY. Bid of 6840 was submitted by the Redwood <br />City Elementary School District for the purchase of the City property adjacent to <br />(E the Hoover School. This amount represented 90 of }7600 the full value of property <br />as determined by a competent and disinterested appraiser and was therefore the <br />minimum acceptable bid under the provisions of Section 3 of the City Charter. The <br />i' appraisal of Norwood B. Smith was dated November 18th, 1950- City Manager recom- <br />mended this bid be accepted. The well was to belong to the school. <br />RESOLUTION No. 1015 AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF POUND PROPERTY was offered and moved for <br />adoption by Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried on roll call, <br />(, I! �,•.j. {SII I <br />Councilman Spillers noted absent. It was agreeable with the Council for the City <br />Engineer to remove partially erected structure. <br />RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION REGARDING ELIMINATION OF HAZARD AT HAWES PARK. Five <br />: <br />eucalyptus trees on the east side of Hawes Park where man <br />yp Y branches had fallen <br />were a hai�ird to the children playing throughout the play area. They were 2/3 feet <br />on private property and 1/3 on City property line. Commission asked recommendation <br />from the City Council as to what might be done to eliminate this hazard. The cost <br />I would be approximately x$240.00. Councilman Royer moved that this be placed on the <br />agenda for further report by City Manager, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />In the future Councilman Granger moved that when trees are to be removed that the <br />Park Department 'get alternate bids, one to cut the tree, contractor to take the <br />wood, and the other to cut the tree, City to get the wood, seconded by Councilman <br />Royer and carried. <br />i <br />RECREATION COMMISSION REPORT FINDINGS ON YACHT CLUB MEMBERSHIP. The Council had pre- <br />viously asked for a report in regard to the'eligibility of memberships to the <br />Sequoia Yacht Club. The Commission checked with the Club including their Commodore, <br />(I Walter Hilton. The report from all the members is that no one had been denied <br />membership to the Club. Mayor Britschgi ordered the letter filed. <br />+�! RECREATION COMMISSION LETTER REGARDING BRIDGING CREEK AT COMMUNITY PARK. The Park and <br />y { <br />Recreation Department had received a letter from Andrew Spinas, Superintendent of <br />I� the Redwood City Elementary School District in regard to the bridging of thecreek <br />j`h, a at Community Park, and they were now urging the City Council to take some action <br />on this. Councilman Morgan moved this be referred to the City Manager for an <br />estimate on the costof such a bri <br />_ dge, seconded by Councilman Royer. Mr. RollsOn <br />stated he and the City Engineer had been out to the Park on this date and he <br />,, i i, � thought redrock and temporary bridge would take care of the situation, for the <br />shildren going to John Gill School.
