The police Department conducted a 5 -day survey and gathered <br />the following information. Between Roosevelt and Oak there is room for 29 parked cars, <br />At no time during the 5 days were more than 26 cars parked. A very limited number of <br />cars parked for more than two hours at a time. This area has a unusually large amount <br />of off street parking. Based on the survey the Traffic Fact Finding Committee recom. <br />mended against any control or regulation of traffic in this block. Councilman Morgan <br />moved approval of recommendation against any control of traffic here, seconded by <br />Councilman Jones and carried. <br />COEIMUNICATION FROK L. C. SMITH stating objection to charge of two working days on the <br />Alameda job. City Engineer Jain stated a regular weekly statement had been sent the <br />cont.rfirtor showing the days allowed. They felt a considerable amount of work could <br />have been done and the Engineering Department calendar showed no rain. If 600 of <br />normal crew could work it was considered a working day. If they were so inclined they <br />could do a lot of hand work, it depended on how they operated - in two subdivisions at <br />the present time were doing a lot of hand work. They had been liberal with the <br />Contractor. Councilman Granger moved that the two days be considered as used by the <br />Contractor and his request to the Council to cancel the charge be denied, seconded <br />by Councilman Royer and carried.
