Councilman Spillers moved that a committee be appointed and a report <br />brought back at the next meeting, seconded by Councilman Morgan,and carried. Coun. <br />cilman Granger was in favor of Government bond investment to aid the Government. <br />!:';ll In regard to the inactive accounts Councilman Granger moved that all the banks be <br />notified and bids be considered with reference to interest rate, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Spillers and carried. Mayor Britschgi appointed Councilmen Jones, chairman, <br />jll:II 1, <br />Royer, and Granger to meet with the City Treasurer, City Auditor, and City Attorney, <br />RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT DEED FOR STREET EASEMENT MAPLE STREET. City Engineer Jain presented <br />easement deed granted to the town or Redwood City by Marie Truffelli, dated November. <br />14, 1927, which their records show as never having been officially recorded, although <br />shown as tax deeded property on the City Assessor's records. He recommended that <br />II . <br />i <br />the deed be accepted by resolution of the Council, so as to more definitely establish <br />Ii the rights of the City to use this parcel of land for street and sewer purposes. <br />I'II1'I; This parcel was particularly required for construction of the sanitary sewers in the <br />. il, !I'I Stambaugh area along the Sweeney Ranch Line. This had been checked with the City <br />I'' Attorney and above procedure was believed justified. Marie Truffelli was deceased, <br />I <br />I �.I City Attorney Currie asked for chance to look over the deed because of red pencil- <br />ling through a figure and another figure in red. I -Ar. Jain stated this was a <br />l <br />typographical error. Councilman Royer moved that City Clerk Dodge be authorized <br />1 1 to accept deed and motion was lost for want of a second. Mayor Britschgi suggested <br />this be placed on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />FURTHER CONSIDERATION FOR PEDESTRIAN GATE AT BROADWAY CROSSING. City Clerk read a letter <br />from J. J. Jordan, Superintendent, Southern Pacific Company, dated November 28th, <br />1950. This had been read at the December 4th Council meeting submitting estimate <br />I. li i`i of cost amounting to 66490 to the City for the installation of pedestrian gates <br />supplementing the existing flashing light signals. Councilman Granger suggested <br />this <br />amount be set aside in the next budget or 50% if the Southern Pacific Company <br />ii.'I could be shown and <br />persuaded that they also had equal responsibility toward pro- <br />tection of pedestrians. City Attorney Currie stated the Public Utilities Commission <br />i lit I <br />only would have jurisdiction in regards to the Southern Pacific Company's respon- <br />sibility. Councilman Granger moved that a letter be written to Mr. Jordan with <br />this in mind that they share in the expense of the seconded by <br />proposed gates, <br />I lid <br />9 <br />li, Councilman Royer.
