Councilman Granger moved that this be referred to the budget <br />committee, seconded by Councilman Herkner and later withdrew his motion with the <br />consent of the second as it was thought something should be done before summer, <br />� f "I <br />Councilman Spillers had previously asked for a report on estimate for planting of <br />100 foot width around pool. City Manager stated if the money was available this <br />could be done before summer, but a more detailed report on cost was being worked up <br />�I (3 <br />by the Park Superintendent. Councilman <br />Spillers challenged anyone to a race giving them a 25 ft. handicap. Councilman <br />Herkner im;iediately accepted this challenge and wished to know how many lengths of <br />Ithe pool he wanted to make it. From the avid interest evidenced, no doubt the entire <br />City family will pick their man to support and turn out en masse to witness this <br />i handicapped race. <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION C01,111UNICATION RE REQUEST TO OPERATE L4INATURE TRAIL AT <br />COMMUNITY PARK. Mr. A. C. Layton, 168 Finger Avenue, a former railroad engineer <br />presented the idea of having a miniature trail concession at Community Park. He <br />l I" had made a hobby of this and both San Mateo Central Park and a park in Oakland have <br />!, one of these. The Recreation Commission thought it would be a worthwhile project <br />! j!',� "�: "'! • and suggested the Council have a committee study the plan with Mr. Layton along with <br />a committee from the Recreation Commission.Councilman Spillers moved that committee <br />be appointed to determine whether or not this would be feasible seconded by Council' <br />man Morgan and carried.
