a. s
and -
;ire
th
tee
il-
tee
old
aded
the Council allow the two organizations the
that use of the club. ^ c
It 265
!
as their
that the Port Commission had complete control
understanding
of the club house and the
i ';•
Recreation Commission had been authorized to make their recommendations
r
as to its
use to the City Council February 1846). Inasmuch as the Yacht Club had
developed
the club, Councilman Granger moved that the communications be referred to the
Yacht Club for their consideration and study for a report back, seconded by Council-
man Spillers and carried.
j ?'
FUSS CONSIDERATION REZONE LOT 2, BLOCK 13, LENOLT FROM R-1 to R-2, PLANNING COLI-
btISSION RECOINdENDATION. Request had been for R-3 by Marie Schoelles, for the
f
lot on corner of A and Arguello. Planning Commission had modified request -and
riere vjilling to have this rezoned to R-2. At the February 19th Council meeting
R fi 1
the Clerk had been instructed to refer this back to the Planning Commission as
an appeal had been made to the Council to build a triplex here. The Planning
"
{
Commission reaffirmed their original recommendation as there was no legal way
to control the number of units that might be constructed if rezoned to R-3 and
it would be better to rezone to R-2. Lir. W.E. Ronan, 1419 Arguello, appeared.
a
He had circulated a petition and a majority preferred that this remain in R-1 al-
though there was not too much feeling evidenced against an R-2. However, it was
i
generally felt that once this was made partially commercial, there would be a
tendency to extend rezoning across the street on Arguello which was still vacant
;.fIt
and at the time this area was planned, those who located here expected that it
a}
would remain a first residential district. Councilman Royer thought a duplex
here would be in keeping with appearance of single family dwellings across the
street, it would be better for the City and there would be no weed problem and
I F, ! it l
offered introduction of ordinance accepting Planning Commission recommendation;
II
'•
on R-2, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. Councilman Herkner thought no
! ;j
one would build on this lot because of the close proximity to Division of Motor
Vehicles. Councilman Granger thought from past experience this would serve as a
buffer between the commercial and R-1 district. Further discussion and Councilman
IllIh
Granger withdrew his second as long as people in the area opposed it and those?
it
interested in rezoning were not present. Motion was lost for lack of a second.
I' P
Councilman Spillers moved that request be denied, seconded by Councilman Morgan
i, •fi' 'ry I•i
and carried on roll call, Councilman Granger passing vote and Councilman Royer
P
I
.,•'
voting No. Motion carried. Councilman Jones noted absent.
" i1' . ;
I
INTERSECTIONS OF JAMES
JOSEPH G. BETTAR, 14114.
