<br />RESOLUTION ORDERIPTG IMPROM;ET_T'PS
<br />POPLAR, VIRf=IIIA, AND JUITIPLRO AVENUE
<br />V IEREAS the Council of the City of Redwood City did, on April 17, 1950, pass and
<br />adopt Resolution of Intention ITo. 858 to order the hereinafter described work to be
<br />done and improvements to be made in said City of Redwood City; and
<br />WHEREAS notices of the passage of said Resolution of Intention ITo. 858, headed
<br />"NOTICE OF ITdPROVEMITT", were duly and rogularly posted along the line of said con-
<br />tertplated work and improvements and in front of all the property liable to be assessed
<br />therefor, and on all of the streets in the district to be assessed therefor, in the I
<br />time, form, manner and number as required by law, as appears from the affidavits of d
<br />Glenn Ty:. Jain, Superintendent of Streets of the City of Redwood City, on file in the
<br />office of the Clerk of said City; and
<br />WHEREAS it appears from the affidavit of R. S. Dodge, City Clerk of the City of
<br />Redwood City, that notices of the adoption of the said resolution were mailed to all }
<br />persons owning real property proposed to be assessed for said improvements, in the
<br />time, form, and manner as required by law, which affidavit is on file with the Clerk
<br />of said City of Redwood City.; and
<br />l^JHEREAS it appears from the affidavit of Lu Verne H. Hamlin that said Resolution
<br />of Intention was duly and regularly published in the Redwood City Tribune, a news-
<br />paper published, printed and circulated in the City of Redwood City; and
<br />WHEREAS, in and by said Resolution of Intention Ido. 858 and the notices of the
<br />passage thereof posted, published and mailed as aforesaid, said Council of the City
<br />of Redwood City fixed T ondair, Tviay 15, 1950, at the hour of 8:00 P. T+;. of said day,
<br />at the Council Chamber of the Council of the City of Redwood City, in the City Hall
<br />on Tniddlefield Road in said City, as the day, hour and place when and where any and
<br />all persons having any objections to the proposed work and improvements described
<br />in said Resolution of Intention No. 858, or to the grades at which said work and
<br />improvements are to be done and made, or to the district to be assessed for said
<br />work and improvez-aents, could appear before said Council and show cause why said pro-
<br />posed work and improvements should not be carried out and done in accordance with
<br />said Resolution of Intention No. 858, or why said work and improvements should not
<br />be carried out and done at the grades as shown on the plans, profiles and detailed
<br />drawings referred to in said Resolution of Intention No. 858 and now on file in the
<br />office of the Clerk of the City of Redwood City; and
<br />WHEREAS, at the day, hour and place last above mentioned, all objections, oral
<br />and written, to said work and improvements described in said Resolution of Intention
<br />ITo. 858, or to the extent of the district to be assessed therefor, were duly con-
<br />sidered by said Council; and
<br />WHEREAS all said objections were overruled and denied by said Council; and
<br />WHEREAS said Council did determine that protests were not made by more than
<br />one-half (1/2) of the owners of the property proposed to be assessed for said work
<br />and improvements; and
<br />V-FHEREAS said Council has acquired jurisdiction to order said work and improve-
<br />ments;
<br />NOW, MEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redwood City
<br />that the public convenience and necessity require, and said Council hereby orders,
<br />all the work and improvements, hereinafter described, to be performed.
<br />Said work and improvements are described as follows:
<br />(a) The improvement of Poplar Avenue by constructing and installing
<br />therein 2" O
<br />asphaltic concrete paving with " crusher run rock base 31' in
<br />width, standard concrete curbs, gutters and 5' width concrete sidewalks
<br />on both sides thereof, for its entire length from its intersection with
<br />the westerly .line of that tract of land in Redwood City known as Portola
<br />Addition to its intersection with Junipero Avenue.
<br />(b) The improvement of Virginia Avenue the sane as for Poplar Avenue
<br />in (a) above from its intersection with Poplar Avenue to its intersection
<br />with. Redwood Avenue.
<br />(c) The improvement of Junipero Avenue the same as for Poplar Avenue
<br />in (a) above from its intersection with Poplar Avenue to its intersection
<br />with Redwood Avenue, provided however that the complete intersection of
<br />Junipero Avenue and Redwood Avenue shall be improved with asphaltic con-
<br />crete paving and concrete curbs, gutters and standard concrete sidewalks
<br />shall be constructed at the northerly corners of said intersection.
<br />(d) The construction and installation of two (2) 15" reinforced
<br />concrete pipe siphons across Virginia Avenue at its intersection with
<br />Poplar Avenue connected with a standard concrete catch basin to be con-
<br />structed at each end of said siphons; the construction and installation of
<br />a 15" reinforced concrete pipe storm drain across the intersection of
<br />Poplar and Junipero Avenues connected with a standard concrete catch
<br />basin to be constructed at each end of said storm drain; the construction
<br />and installation of a 15" reinforced concrete pipe storm drain connected
<br />with the aforementioned catch basin to be constructed on the Easterly
<br />side of Junipero Avenue at its intersection with Poplar Avenue, extending
<br />approximately 82' in an easterly direction from said catch basin in a
