It <br />!! <br />was understood <br />attendance was not to be compulsory. <br />j <br />INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE SETTING UP POLICE RESERVE CORPS. Councilman Spillers <br />moved <br />introduction, seconded by Councilman Herkner, and carried. Councilman Herkner <br />stated he had spent some time riding with Police Officers and he commended the <br />(, <br />men for the excellent work they were, performing. <br />,! <br />LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES DINNER, BURLINGAME, THURSDAY, .MAY 17th.. Burlingame will <br />act as host City. Most,Councilmen will attend. Clerk was authorized to pay the <br />I p I a 1 <br />x$`5.00 assessment to the Peninsula Division, <br />CHAT11BER OF COMMERCE LETTER REQUESTING CONSIDERATION FOR L1951-52 BUDGET APPROPRIATION <br />was referred to City Manager on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Council- <br />man Jones, and carried. Councilman Granger questioned the distribution of City <br />maps with the thought that perhaps a small charge should bl levied, as is being <br />done in some cities. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM C.G. UHLENBERG AND CO. PROPOSING TO CONDUCT ANNUAL AUDIT ON SAME <br />' <br />BASIS AS AT PRESENT ON A PER DIEM BASIS, NOT TO EXCEED 01500 for the year. Council- <br />man Granger moved acceptance of proposal, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Council- <br />man Jones was of the opinion that if there,were time to investigate before adoption <br />of 1951-52 Budget, it might be possible to obtain a true audit rather than a super- <br />ficial one as at present. He was of the opinion the,City .could pay more for audit <br />It! <br />�I <br />which would ,result in saving of considerable money to the City. He.also called <br />( <br />3 <br />attention to the fact that there were other CPA firms in the City that should be <br />given consideration. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that advertising for . <br />bids would result in costing more than at present and expressedhis satisfaction with <br />Jl.. <br />the present audit. Mayor Britschgi questioned the policy of awarding the business <br />without advertising for bids, but the City Attorney that,p rsonal services connot be <br />Put to bids unles was advised by functions and duties could be set up.
