ROOSEVELT AVENUE INTERSECTIONS WITH EL CAMINO, REAL, Traffic Study Committee had studied <br />conditions at the Council' s request. The State is being asked to have their engineering staff, ob- <br />8erve this location to determine the feasibility of an installation covering the jog intersection. <br />The Committee feels that a crosswalk is needed with or without signal, and recommended that State be <br />requested to paint crosswalk across E1 Camino Real just south of the Chestnut Street intersection. <br />Recommendation approved on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br />VAIANCE IN FRONT YARD SETBACK JOSEPH SOUTHWARD, LOTS 1 & 2, BLOCK 4, JEFFERSON AVENUE ADDITION. Planning <br />Commission recommended granting variance from present 20 feet to 0 feet from his present property <br />line subject to the following conditions: <br />Subject to actual re -alignment of Topaz.Street as now proposed.. <br />Recommendation approved on motion of Councilman Rayer, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />City attorney asked fro clarification of action taken at the Council meeting of July 16th when the <br />sum of $400 was transferred to acquire property from the Lauries to cover realignment. Mr. Currie <br />called attention to the fact that there were four lots involved in an estate. The general concen- <br />sus of opinion was that the $400 was to cover the three lots and that the fourth lot was not under- <br />stood to be involved. After further discussion, Councilman Granger moved the matter be placed on <br />the agenda for the next meeting for further investigation, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br />HFaDIPISION OF LOT 6, BLOCK 12, OAKTKNOLL MANOR INTO`3 LOTS was recommended by Planning Commissions <br />Recommendation approved on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br />EAST ROOMS STAFFORD PARK. <br />City Manager reported on bids received as follows: <br />V. Purcell <br />$4080.00 <br />4168100 <br />4383.00 <br />4679.00 <br />4925.00 <br />5007.00 <br />5766.10 <br />6771.16• <br />Since the two low bids failed to include list of sub -contractors as required by Chapter 2 of the <br />California Government Code, bids were contested by Stevenson -Pacific, the next lowest bidder, and <br />accordingly City Attorney has recommended rejection of all bids. Councilman Morgan moved that the <br />matter be placed on agenda for futther study, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Mr. Bud Stevenson <br />appeared and stated that his attorney would contact Mr. Currie to discuss the matter with him. <br />Councilman Granger stated that he was of the opinion that a uniform bid should be worked out toocover <br />all subjects to eliminate any further difficulties such as the present one. It was agreed that here- <br />after City Attorney would pass on all plans and specifications and call for bids. Motion carried. <br />CLAIM FOR ALLEGED DAMAGES, ZUMA FRANCIS. Arthur T. Bridgett, Attorney at Lair delivered claim for alleged <br />damages -to the City Clerk, also a copy to the Mayor in which claim is made for $10,000 Covering said <br />alleged damages caused by a fall upon sidewalk at or near 1748 E1 Camino Real. Motion -of Councilman <br />Spillers, seconded by Councilman Morgan, claim was denied and referred to Insurance Carrier.
