e.54 (d) Nothing herein shall be construed as prohibiting City from <br />commencing abatement proceedings in accordance with the pro- <br />visions of Ordinance No. 303 and completing same, provided <br />that actual physical razing or demolition of the structures <br />will not be ordered to commence prior to January 31, 1952.• <br />This letter is intended to confirm the agreement reached as a result of the <br />meeting with the committee from your honorable Council and the undersigned on <br />June 15, 1951• <br />Yours very truly, <br />(Signed) A.'.G. Frank <br />(Signed) Betsy Frank <br />On motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Jones, City Clerk was directed to address <br />a communication to the Franks expressing the Council's appreciation for their cooperation. Motion <br />carried. Councilman Granger moved that a letter be written to the McCormics attaching copy of the <br />Frank agreement and calling attention to the verbal agreement to go along With the proceedings. <br />Motion seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br />CALIFORNIA SQUARE PLAQUE. Councilman Granger made committee report recommending an appropriation not to <br />exceed $250 with which to select an appropriate plaque to be placed in California Square to commem- <br />orate the donors of the property to the City many years ago. Councilman Granger moved authority be <br />granted to the Committee, seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. <br />TIDEGATE STRUCTURE. Mayor Britschgi advised plans and specifications were completed and stated his thought <br />that Council should take the necessary steps to start the project. Councilman Morgan moved, seconded <br />by Councilman Royer to authorize advertising for bids. Motion carried. City Engineer Jain explained <br />the advantages of the gates, and pertinent information for the people in the audience. <br />PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION HEARING ON PROPOSED RATE INCREASE, PENINSULA TRANSIT LINES. On motion of <br />Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Morgan, City is to be'represented at the hearing. Council- <br />man Granger suggested protest against the practice of the Bus Lines in charging an additio0al 10¢ <br />where passenger rides beyond the Southern Pacific Depot. For example, passenger entering bus at <br />Charter & Middlefield pays.a 10¢ fare. Upon leaving the Southern Pacific Depot for a point beyond, <br />the passenger is assessed an additional 10¢. Motion carried. <br />COUNCILMAN' MORGAN APPOINTED ACTING MAYOR FOR THE PERIOD August 17th to August 20th or until the next re- <br />gular Council meeting when the Council can select any member they choose to officiate. while MayoF <br />Britschgi is away on vacation. <br />MEETING ADJOURNED, AFTER WHICH MEETING WILL BE HELD WITH PROPERTY O4YNERS TO DISCUSS_ INFORMALLY PROPOSED <br />CREEK COVERING FROM .PtIDDLEFIELD'TO BROADIiAY, on motion of Councilman Morgan, seconded by Councilman <br />Jones and carried. <br />r <br />ADJOURNED'at 8:15 PM. <br />R.
