Following are their recommendations. <br />Chairman, <br />Jefferson Avenue from El Camino Real and Diiddlafield Road and widening in <br />1. Prompt widening of <br />! t j <br />Jefferson from Middlefield Road. to Bayshore Highway as this street carries <br />very near future of <br />of traffic. Will <br />dividing strip , <br />eliminate many traffic congestions and near accidents caused by illegal turns on El Camino Real <br />No. 5 had already been done, according to this evening's paper stated Councilman Morgan. Councilman <br />Herkner moved that this be referred to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee, seconded by Councilman Jones <br />and carried. <br />I$ 1''"` <br />I' <br />COMMUNICATION DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS REUECTING REQUEST FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS EL CAMINO REAL AND ROOSEVELT, AND <br />CHESTNUT. Letter was directed to Planning Commission from Co. Skaggs, signed by 'W. R. Cobb, Assistant <br />District Engineer. preliminary study of intersections indicated that signals wars not warren at <br />this time and in any event could not be given priority ahead of many more critical interasetions in <br />, <br />this district. Congestion throughout entire highway system was creating a great demand for signals, <br />it <br />materials required for installation have become difficult to obtain and these factors have made <br />a <br />necessary that each request for signals be carefully studied in order that improvements may be made <br />1114 <br />at those locations where there is the greatest need, They would keep intersections under observation <br />for possible futuee improvement. A separate letter was. received in regard to crosswalk on El Camino <br />Real on the south leg of the Chestnut Street intersection. He originally requested wafer <br />meter before the July 17, 1950 decisions of the Council, but failed to make a written app lication and <br />yl was not a matter of record.
