438 telephone bills be paid from that account for the remainder of the fiscal year. r <br />Recommendation approved on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Morgan <br />and carried. <br />DEFENSE PRODUCTION ADMINISTRATION MEETING OF MAYORS IN LOS ANGELES ON JANUARY 11th. On <br />motion of Councilman Herkner, seconded by Councilman Royer, Mayor Britschgi was instruc- <br />ted to attend this meeting, the City to pay the necessary expense. Motion carried. <br />RESIGNATIOIi OF JOHN H. POOLE, PARK AND RECREATION COMPTISSION. Councilman Royer stated that <br />the commission was preparing to study the recent Snyder survey in the very near <br />future and suggested holding up Mr. Poole's resignation until a report had been <br />received. He so moved, seconded by Councilman Morgan and the motion carried. Mayor <br />Britschig appointed a committee consisting of Councilman Royer, Granger and Jones to <br />meet with the Recreation Commission at their meeting, Tuesday, January 9th. <br />A LETTER FROM J. J. JORDAN, SUPERINTENDENT, SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY REGARDING PEDESTRIAN <br />GATES AT BROADWAY, submitting new proposal for installation of pedestrian gates at <br />Broadway crossing. Councilman Granger was of tYn opinion that inasmuch as the Southern' <br />Pacific Co. had succeeded in greatly reducing the cost of this project City should <br />go ahead with their part of the agreement. Councilman Granger moved, based on Mr. <br />Jordan's letter indicating saving to the City, that the City proceed with their share <br />of the improvement, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. City clerk was direct- <br />ed to again check with Southern Pacific Co. regarding Middlefield and Chestnut crossing <br />light. <br />LETTER CITY I."ANAGER EXPIRATION-TER14S MR. HERBERT COULTER AND MR. FRED MAGUIRE. On motion <br />of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Jones these men were appointed to <br />succeed themselves for the full terms of office. <br />LETTER CITY MANAGER AUTHORITY ADVERTISE SALE OF POUND TRUCIC. City Manager Rolison request- <br />authority to advertise for sale the Hudson panel truck formerly used by the Animal <br />Shelter. It was also recommended that the sum of $1200 set aside for replacement of <br />this equipment be transferred from Equipment Replacement Fund to the Gerneral Fund. <br />Councilman Morgan moved approval of recommendation, seconded by Councilman Granger <br />and carried. <br />LETTER FROM LOMA LINDA FOOD CO. REGARDING TAX EXEMPTION. Request for exemption for business <br />license was referred to City Attorney for report back.. <br />LETTER FROM CITY MANAGER REGARDING PAUL ADAP;TSON PROPOSAL PRELIMINARY PLANS AND SPECIFI- <br />CATIONS CREEK COVERING. City Manager recommended employing Paul Adamson to prepare <br />preliminary plans and specifications on creek covering Middlefield Road to Broadway <br />at a cost of 0540. After gerneral discussion as to the value of these plans and the <br />decision that Council would have something to present to the property owners it was <br />the thought that expenditure of this amount of money would be well worth while. <br />Councilman ItiTorgan offered RESOL'UTI'ON 1197 TRANSFERRING $54.0 TO COVER THIS PROJECT <br />and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call, Council- <br />man Spillers noted absent. <br />LETTER CITY ASSESSOR:fCORRECTION 1952-52 LISTED IN MR. BROPHYfS letter of December 29th, <br />was authorized on motion of Councilman Royer, seconded by Councilman Granger and <br />carried. <br />COPY OF RESOLUTION 6131 FROM THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AUTHORIZING CANCELLATION OF TAXES <br />r <br />ON CITY PROPERTY IN FRANKLIN STREET AREA ordered filed. <br />
