KING CGKPANY, at the rear of Lots facing Anamor Between Virginia and Kentucky Avenues, portion of Block 6, Woodside Terrace No. 1, for recreation purposes, but which would not be improved by the King Company'. Councilman Jones moved that the Park and Recreation Commission study the possibility of turfing and other improvements for this area, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. Sturges, appearing for the above matter, was called on by PtIayor Britschgi at this time, since he stated it was necessary for him to appear at another meeting later in the evening. The Planning Commission hoped to stop encroachment upon Redwood City in this area by annexing 400 foot strip, constituting; 8 lots along Eaton Avenue the balance of the Aced properties to be annexed to San Carlos. Xr. Sturges stated that Eaton Avenue was not maintained by Redwood City, and after thorough discussion Councilman Granger moved that the Planning Commission's recommendation be over- ruled and the request for annexation of the Aced properties to San Carlos be granted Seconded by Councilman Morgan and carried. PETITION FOR STREET IMPROIMMIENTS ON TOPAZ STREET, HARDING AVENUE, AND JAMES AVENUE. Councilman Royer moved that the City Manager and City Engineer be authorized to star this project at once. Seco nde by Councilman Jones and carried. Ralph Mailton of Topaz Street spoke in favor of the project. Councilman Granger moved that the necessary funds be transferred to cover engineerin costs, to be later reimbursed from the assessment district, seconded by Coucilman Spillers and carried. A request was made by a member of the audience for temporary relief on James and Topaz Streets to improve surface pending permanent improvements. Mayor Britschgi explained that no money was available for the maintenance of unimproved streets. Discussion ensued as to the present condition of the road surface in this area, and the minimum length of time before the job of street improvements could be completed. Councilman Granger moved that the City Engineer be instructed to have the Street Department give some temporary relief to these streets, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. STREET IMPROVEMENTS KENSINGTOII SQUARE. Three petitions requesting street improvements to Upton Street, Vera Avenue 17indsor Way, Madison Avenue, Wessex Way, Jefferson Avenue, Alameda de las Fulg,as, were submitted. The City Engineer advised the Council that plans for most of this area had been previously prepared, and that if the whole project were to be undertaken, the present plans could be utilized with minor addi- tions and revisions, thereby greatly expediting the project.
