M. <br />MAYOR GRANGER CALLED ATTENTION TO COMMENT FROM MERCHANTS ON MAIN STREET regarding a recent <br />disturbance at a Main Street bat. Police Chief Wood reported this had been satisfac7 <br />torily handled by his department. <br />FLAG DAY. Mayor Granger called attention to the fact that on Flag Day, the response by all <br />departments of the City had not been satisfactory. He suggested that hereafter steps <br />should be taken by the proper authority to correct this condition. <br />STREET LIGHT COMMITTEE REPORT. Councilman Herkner reported that the Committee had considered <br />the recommendations of the Pacific,Gas and Electric Lighting Engineer and had concurred <br />in his suggestion that lights be replaced in the area of Marshall, Hamilton Streets, Etc.. <br />City Manager Rolison has a copy of the P. G. & E. recommendation. On motion of Coun- <br />cilman Herkner, seconded by Councilman Jones, proper authority was directed to notify <br />the P. G. & E. of the Council's desire to proceed. Motion carried. <br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS 135 BUCKEYE STREET. Letter from Mr. James O'Keefe, Jr. representing <br />the estate of the former owner, requested an extension of an additional 90 days to <br />enable the administrator to dispose of the property, was read by the Clerk. A request <br />for an extension was denied on motion of Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman <br />Britschgi and oarried. <br />RESOLUTION 01' PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS ON OAK AVENUE, No. 1271 was <br />offered by Councilman Spillers, who moved adoption, seconded by Councilwoman Tinney and <br />carried on roll call. <br />INTRODUCE ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONES IN RECENTLY ANNEXED TERRITORIES, at present unclassi- <br />fied. Ordinance introduced on motion of Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman <br />Spillers and carried. <br />RESOLUTION No. 1272 REMOVING RACIAL RESTRICTIONS IN CERTAIN AREA. Councilman Herkner offered <br />resolution and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried on roll call. <br />INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE GRANTING FRANCHISE TO AA,hTNHARD & COMPANY TO INSTALL STREET CLOCK. <br />Councilman Jones moved introduction, seconded by Councilwoman Tinney and carried. In <br />regard to the liability insurance referred to in proposed ordinance, it was suggested <br />that 1,1r. Rheinhard carry property damage of <br />$5000 and liability insurance of $25000 <br />to $50,000. <br />INSTALLATION OF PEDESTRIAN GATES, BROADWAY CROSSING. Assistant City Attorney Lebsack re- <br />ported on the 'receipt of a letter from the Southern Pacific Company advising the City's <br />share of installation would be $2,925 representing 50% of the actual cost, however, <br />they would not revise the agreement to guarantee the amount specified. Councilman <br />Spillers moved that execution of agreement be authorized as drawn, seconded by Council- <br />man Britschgi and carried. <br />CLAIMS Nos. 8297 to 8415 inclusive totalling 077,790-45 were ordered paid on motion of <br />Councilman Spillers, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br />OAK AVENUE IMPROVEP,!ENTS. City Engineer Jain reported on the amount necessary for the City <br />to pay to clear City owned property included in the assessment, would be as follows: <br />Hawes Park, 03,849.00, Hetch-Hetchy right-of-way 01,313.00, 40% of storm drains <br />$1,869.00. Total $7,031-00. On motion of Councilman Britschgi, seconded by Councilman <br />Herkner, City Engineer report was accepted and the amount necessary will be made part <br />
