The City Manager was of the opinion that this was all that would be needed to be done.
Councilman Spillers stated that the soft -ball games are ready to start and they need the bleachers.
This was followed by discussion. Councilman Britschgi seconded Councilman Spillers motion to advertise
for bids. The motion carried.
City Attorney Currie was of the opinion that the bleachers should be closed off until the new bleachers
2
are put in. Councilman Spillers moved that the old bleachers be taken down., seconded by Councilman
Britschgi and carried.
RESIDENTS OF NORTIR MBERLAND AVENUE REQUEST PEP.I.IISSION TO BLOCK OFF END OF STREET BETV EEN NUMBER 1432 AND 433
TO END OF CUL DE SAC FOR STREET DANCE Wa 29th from 9:00 P. M. to 1:00 A. M. May 30th. Acting Police
Chief Moudakas had no objections. Councilman Stout moved permission to close the street and allow the
dance, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that they could start one
hour earlier and close at midnight so they wouldn't be running the dance into Memorial Day. Councilman
Britschgi amended the motion to change the time from 9:00 P. M. to midnight, seconded by Councilman
Granger and carried with Councilman Spillers and Mayor Royer voting NO.
GRANNY GOOSE FOODS REQUEST PERMIT TO ERECT SIGN ON SIDE OF BUILDING CORNER BAYSHORE AND ANNETTE. This was
followed by discussion in regard to whether or not this was to be treated as an appeal to the Planning
Commission's decision or if there was a misunderstanding in regard to w hether or not this is a free
standing sign or a fixed sign on the building. Councilman Spillers moved to set this for a public
hearing on May 7th, seconded by Councilman Herkner. Councilman Weiss wanted to know what the Council
should be guided by in regard tothe sign ordinance. City Attorney Currie said that they are governed
only by the existing ordinance. The new sign ordinance is going to be presented in about one week.
Motion carried.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECO181ENDED APPROVAL ANNEXATION EMRALD LAKE AREA. The Planning Commission believes that
. it is a desirable addition to Redwood City and is aware of the problems involved, which they feel can
worked out. This was followed by discussion. Councilman Weiss stated that long range planning should
be carefully explained to the people. The $75.00 annexation fee per lot would be ample to cover the
annexation charge are the people aware that they are subject to the $75.00 annexation fee per lot.
Councilman Granger stated that the people asked for annexation, the Council did not go out and ask the
people if they wanted to annex to the City. If the people are still in favor of annexation, they will
be expected to pay their full share and the City is not promising them anything. Councilman Britschgi
spoke on the subject and one of the facts he brought out bras that the people should understand that
they will have to accept the bonded indebtedness.
City Attorney Currie told the Council the only thing they could do was to determine the area to be
annexed and get the description. When this is completed, it has to be turned over to the Boundary
Commission for their approval and then it will again be presented to the Council who will then adopt
a Resolution of Intention to circulate a petition. Then the Council will decide whether or not they
will accept their share of the bonded indebtedness and the Council will set the date of the election.
CouncilmanSpillersmoved that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare the necessary map, seconded
by Councilman Britschgi. This was followed by discussion in regard to what the description should
cover. City Attorney Currie stated that no steps could be taken until the boundaries have been est-
ablished. The City Engineer requested permission to leave the Council Chamber in order to;et a couple of
mpas showing the areas in question. Permission was granted and the Council moved on to the next item on
the agenda.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED APPROVAL VARIANCE TO ALL07 15 FOOT FRONT SETBACK T_NSTEAD OF 20 FOOT BECAUSE
OF STEEP SLOPE REAR OF HOUSES 3691 & 3693 BRANDY ROCK 7AY (FARM HILLS NO. 1).
